That's a beauty Spritz, a stunning colour. How's your house and garden? Are you managing okay?

I find these shrubs such fascinating things. This one in particular has a gorgeous colour.

Yes, Bernie - I prefer it to the yellow one. :-)

Janey, thanks. We're having a lot of work done, but it'll be at least another 3 -4 weeks before we can get our furniture back. The garden still has debris around - and how I'll manage to deal with the plants on the stream bank I really don't know - the grasses and crocosmia leaves are lying flat on top of other plants, which may or may not have survived.

We don't like living upstairs, so we'll be very glad when it's all finished.

Hopefully that three or four weeks will pass quickly for you, Spritz. It sounds like you're going to have a big job cleaning up the stream bank.

This is a lovely one, which I haven't come across before. I'm not optimistic for my Jelena.....it was flowering beautifully, but the flowers died quite suddenly, and there is no sign of growth on it. I do not know what it is with me and witch hazels........this was going to be my last try....looks like its another failure :( My conditions are text book perfect for them, and there are some lovely ones in the area, although its not a plant I see an awful lot of around here....sigh...no idea why they won't grow. Oh we'll, you can't win em all as they say.

Strange, isn't it - I have a friend in Devon, who lost hers last year too. Don't forget that plants can't read, Karen! :-(

Bernie, I shall have to get my wellies on and wade along the stream to pull off the Crocosmia leaves, but how my husband will manage to cut back the grasses this year I don't know! He usually uses the hedge trimmer...but I can't see that happening.

What a dreadful winter you have had Spritz, I really do feel for you , lets hope the Spring and Summer will mend all the damage done in 212 and this winter, xx

Thank you. xx

Thats a lovely colour Spritz

Thank you. When I first planted it, it didn't show up against the grey stone wall, so I planted a variegated ivy which has covered the wall now. It looks a lot better. :-)

This is lovely, Spritz, I have the same one, I have just moved in front of the green fence so that it shows up better, it is absolutely covered in flowers this year. :-)

Haha - you're always moving things around in your garden! Poor things, they'll grow wheels soon. LOL. xx

I'd never seen this before today when I was at a garden center. The blossoms looked like tissue paper, really pretty but they wanted over £50 for them !

8 Feb, 2013

Wow! :-O

Lovely photo, Spritz! I've never seen a red one before. I know of a couple near where I live & 1 of them I pass quite often & it's quite big but looks superb! :-))

11 Feb, 2013

It's probably biding its time then.

13 Feb, 2013

yes so many plants are no where near flowering compared to what I am seeing in the photos on here. Our garden is such a cold spot on the edge of the wolds so cant say I am surprised.

13 Feb, 2013

No, nor me. Cold wolds, eh? lol.

14 Feb, 2013
