Chrispook, sounds like a great idea, it just breaks my heart to look at it now the way it is.!

You should have left a bigger stump and carved a bear out of it (see my blog on Garden Helpers for inspiration)

Oh my Andrew, I could only wish to be as talented as you. I'd whack both my hands off before I knew what happened...lol.

Wow, what a fabulous garden and photo, that stump would make a great
bird feeding table if you adapted the top of the stump a bit then you would be watching for the wild life instead of seeing it hacked off.

You have a lovely garden. I think the creeper next will move to the stump and you bet, another year or so you won't notice it and will have it covered with greenery. Is that a Rhododendron on the LH side? And what about the conifer, is that a silver spruce? Would make a good Xmas tree. I like the grassy shrub too, a bit like mine, LOL.
Have a nice day, mine is nearly over, well, hubby is watching the tennis and it is already Sunday morning here!

It still looks lovely. You could stand a container with an interesting plant in it on the tree stump, and maybe grow a little climber round the bottom, We have just done that when our weeping willow had to come down because of disease. It's close to the house and supports the washing line. The pot and climber take your eye away from the stump and it all looks as if it was planned.
