looking South (Roystonia regia)

The 3 Roystonia regia's, which I call the three graces are in a garden bed and as a compliment I planted green ferns and red cordylline.

Hi Gillian, I have looked at your beautiful blue mystery flower. It reminds me of Agapanthus, but of course it is not. I have no idea. I don't know where you are and where the flower is growing, but I am not familiar with an English country garden or European flowers. Sorry.

I wish the British climate would let me grow such trees. They look great!

Hello Goringfolly. Yes well, this is always the case, isn't it? The grass is greener on the other side, LOL. I cannot grow tulips, blue bells etc. I do have, however roses, which I thought would be totally impossible. I will put on pics of those too.

Hello Clarice. I now have learned to place the mouse over the profile picture to see where one is. I have only just started and still have to learn everything here. Thank you for your comment. I love my garden too and spend many happy hours there ( we do have fine weather, that helps ).

Thanks for the welcome. This is a very nice site, but I am getting lost already. It's a minefield here, so many avid gardeners and great photo's to look at. I can be busy here for ever, lol.
You asked how big my garden is. Well, it is quite big. I wrote in my profile we live on an acre and the house is also very large, there also is a drive, which is hedged on either side, but all the rest is garden. Hundreds of trees and shrubs. O yes, the pool is there too, and we've built that last December and now all these ferns are coming up along the edges of the poolfence, really lovely. So to answer your question: probably 3000 square meters, which spells hard work. I am just about to see your garden now, before I go to bed.

Welcome Marguerite,
I know you will find GOY very interesting and informative, it's also fun to compare the different gardens in different areas of the world. I am in the Southern US, there are a few of us in the south and a few in the northern US, a few spread across Canada and a couple in the west plus some in Europe plus lots all over the UK, it keeps things hopping on this site and the pictures are just amazing.

Thanks wohlibuli. Your name coul be Australian aboriginal, there are all kinds of names like that for places, trees and plants too. I live in the hills near Cairns, it's all country life here. I have many pictures I like to share, not only from the garden, but from Northern Australia, which flora is just amazing. But right now I have to go to bed, it's 11.17 pm here already.
There is so much to see here, it's mindblowing.
I don't even know how to navigate here yet, but I will learn as I go along.

Another welcome to add to the list, Marguerite. This site is addictive. I joined last of May and a day without GOY is like a day without sunshine. The friendliest site imaginable and so helpful. You feel as though you are making friends around the world. Your garden is lovely...it doesn't get any better than that. Enjoy!

Thank you all you wonderful people welcoming me here. Yes, we were very lucky to find this place, although the garden was in total disarray. We worked really hard, pulling up weeds, pruning trees, rescueing trees, fixing neglected irrigation etc. But it was the most satisfying job we've done and so rewarding. Now we just keeping it up. We've added a few more plants and trees and landscaped with a swimming pool and it is indeed picture perfect now. Yes, I will put more pics all the time. As you say 1198 this site seems addictive. But I find always people who love gardens are friendly, same with people who love dogs, you've always got something to talk about. Nice meeting you all here.

Welcome to GoY ! Thank yoy for all your nice comments! There is a lot to look through on this site, especially now that so much is in bloom & most of us just can't resist sharing photos! If you go to your 'news' tab it will show any new activity on photos that you have commented on so that you can sort of follow a conversation, like the one on this photo. Have fun!
