Me too it matches perfectly :-)

Thank you, I think it probably will stay there then, it will hide the ugly fence too as it grows.

I agree it looks well with the Heucheras and when it starts to grow the leaves will blend perfectly with the colors;0)

I like it there too. Do you know the name of this acer ,Cinderella? Is it turning from green to yellow?

14 Sep, 2012

Thank you, it is called Orange Dream, and it is starting to get its autumn colouring I think.

It does look good doesn't it! I'm just about to put up a picture of mine with it's autumn colours. From spring right through to autumn this bed will forever be changing colours.

Thanks for the ID Cinderella. I have few acers in the pots as well.I do not know where to plant them yet.
My favorite (so far) is Osakasuki. Will post picture when it will turn more red.

I agree with the others ... it looks good there. Tell me, Cinders, how much sun does that Heuchera bed receive? I am seriously considering re-siting some of mine as they just aren't growing! ... :o(((

It doesnt get much sun till half way through the afternoon. Its the coolest part of the garden on that side. I think the majority of them prefer not to be in direct sun. Although my Marmalade, now that it is a few years old, doesnt seem to mind. I always put my pots on that side when I go away as they don't seem to dry out there.

Thanks for that,Cinders, at the moment they receive sun from dawn until mid afternoon which I guess is too much for them. I think they would be happier not to have the morning sun ... guess what I'll be doing tomorrow then! .......

The heucheras all look healthy and happy and I think the acer tones perfectly.

Thank you Stroller.

Cinders, I had a real change around with the Heucheras today ... five have been placed together in a small, narrow border where the Hostas have been decimated by the SAS! ... Now, of course, I need to fill the gaps with something new ... :o)

Shirley, sounds like you have been very busy today. Look forward to seeing a picture. Have been trying to think what you could fill the gaps with. I take it you are looking for perennials. Are the gaps near the edge of the garden Perhaps polyanthus would be nice and colourful for now, until you can decide what to put there.

We took Mum to a local GC today and were under-whelmed at the choice of small evergreens! Mum bought 2 small Hebes for her patio pots, then they'll go in the garden proper in the Spring, also some Winter pansies, but, as I never have success with the latter, I came away empty handed ... the space I'm looking to fill is the front of a brick edged raised bed so something low growing would be best I think.

That was a bit disappointing for you then. I was thinking of Phlox Subulata which makes quite a nice cushion shape and has pretty flowers, and in time would hang over the raised bed if you wanted. Just a thought.

What about low growing hardy Geraniums,Shirley? ..granted,they spread a bit,but easily thinned out,and SAS don't bother with them..flower all summer, just need deadheading to keep them going..Maybe you already have some in your garden, you could split? .just another thought ..:o)

Good plan, Bloomer ... I do have some hardy Geraniums in the main border (how posh does that sound? lol!) which would grow huge if I let them ... weather permitting I shall take a look at them tomorrow ... thanks for the idea ... :o)

Glad it has given you an idea,Shirley..save you some pennies!..I love mine..my neighbour has lots,so told me I could dig a clump up..easy to keep them in check too, aren't they? ..still flowering well..:o)
