Hugh in Recovery

Hugh in Recovery (hylocereus undatus, gymnocalycium)

So, I woke up early this morning to take care of Hugh first thing. I put on the Finding Neverland soundtrack to relax him and talked sweetly to him while I cut his rootstock like you all suggested. Even though it's only been--what, two days?, his rootstock was pretty much all damaged now. I cut slice by slice to look for a healthy pulp, but the majority of it was a brownish-yellow. And, as I cut, there was one point where the rootstock just fell off. I didn't want to cut all the way to the head, so I left the little bit of brighter yellow pulp alone. Now he's resting with his friends and callousing up for a day or so.

Did I do everything right?

Did you find another cactus root stock for him, Taffy? How's he doing?

What else?

See who else is growing hylocereus undatus, gymnocalycium.

See who else has plants in genus Hylocereus.

This photo is of "Hugh" in Taffy's garden
