This Bougainvillea was grown from a cutting a little over a year ago. Typically here in San Diego Bougainvillea grows as a very large shrub or climbs very tall trees. Photo taken June 30, 2012.

They are as beautiful as they are lethal. Those sharp thorns are dangerous for people and dogs alike. Very good burglar deterrent having them growing along fences, lol.
