I do like this plant, so pretty. I had one several years ago but it 'escaped' from the garden, climbed up the electricity pole and along the lines. I tried containing it but it just wouldn't behave so it had to go :(

Beautiful..........

It's lovely. I'm guessing from comment from Gee that this is quite a rampant climber?

Wonderful plant to have..vigorous too, I have 2 of them :)))

They're lovely plants, Dwylli, but need a bigger garden than mine - it certainly was a case of 'up, up and away' :)

Thanks Maureen / Carole I'm pleased with it but it sounds as though I must keep an eye on it to stop it running rampant over everything else :o)

Just added your pic to my faves, to remind me!

Amy, yes, I have always managed too... I guess they were and are planted well away from the boundary fence. I have had to move both of them recently..cutting them to just over 15 inches, already they are on their way, I have planted both of them against 2 old trees which are away from the fence.

Sheila if I find any runners or I can take a cutting I will let you know !
Michaella do you cut yours down to approx 15 " every year ? this is on an Arbour I'm getting worried that it will smother it !

Wow, thanks Amy :))

oooh thats a bit special. what conditions does it like?

3 May, 2012

Hi Amy, sorry about the delay in replying. No I do not cut mine at all. I had to cut them down recently to move them elsewhere in the garden, they have always been allowed to go wherever they wish, I plant them well away from boundaries and areas where I do not want them to go to. I would watch the arbour, it will smother it... if it is happy.

Hi Amy, how did I miss this! Sounds like my kind of climber. I've looked at it on Crocus and it says fully hardy - perfect. Must get one :)

Sticki my soil is acid I'm not sure if it is happy with all kinds of soil , thanks Michaella If it starts to take over I will hack some off it ...I guessed you would like it Dawn you have the space to allow it to clamber where it will ..
I'm beginning to wonder if my garden is big enough for it Linda :o))

I have space for a climber on the back fence and would like a passion flower, but they grow so fast....any suggestions? Is there a variety of passion flower that remains smallish?

8 May, 2012

there's a clem that looks just like a passion flower, Lindak, called Clematis Sieboldii . . . maybe Google it?

8 May, 2012

I'll take a look Sheila thanks.
