Baby blackbird....

Not sure how many were hatched. I have only seen one at any time, although the parents seem busy flitting across three gardens.

A busy, nervous time for the parents - but they're sure to teach the youngsters where the best pickings are . . . your garden. :-)

I've been putting mealworms out for them, MW, and rice krispies for the ducks :)

He's quite mature Gee, he has quite a few tail feathers. They seem to disperse widely and somehow the parents seem to know what tree or shrub they are in. I have never heard them calling like tits do. Then I am a bit deaf. Unfortunataly the magpies raided the nest and all the eggs taken in late afternoon Monday. Such a schemozzle. They dive bombed bravely but failed to keep the eggs.

Your feathered friends will be coming from far and wide when they hear whats on the menu! Im so pleased you have managed to see at least one of the baby Blackbirds, I havent seen the Robins, just the parents at the front garden feeding station, maybe they have a new nest now in a different location;0)

There seems to be two baby blackbirds, Carole, both well grown and able to fly and feed themselves - until the parents arrive and then they run around squarking and begging for food! The 8 little ducklings are growing well too. I'm not sure when the new brood will arrive but hope it's before I go away at the end of the month.

Lots going on in your garden Gill you are very lucky to have all the wildlife in your garden, maybe you could write a daily journal;0))

Glad they are all thriving Gee. So good for all the ducklings to have made it so far. A new event on the feeders today. 2 Gold Finches kept returning to feed several times.....never seen them before in the garden. May be calling into ART nursery on Friday, if we go to N.Weald, and see what they have in stock on the fuchsia benches.

Lovely to have goldfinches, Dorjac. I have seen a few but not as many as last year. Hope the weather holds up for your trip on Friday :)
