Anacamptis pyramidalis

I have yet to see wild orchids, beautiful.

Found it, it's called Anacamptis pyramidalis. It's growing right across the street from my house.

i do have a special liking for wild orchids and this is a particularly nice one...

LOL.....most Greeks don't really do names!!! It's a job naming plants!

yes your right Pp, The bee orchid, it's a real beauty Alex your lucky, i've not seen one wild over here.. :-) my fav wild orchid i think must be this one Ophrys Sphegodes it's the early spider orchid.. :-)

Why won't my double snowdrop bloom??? It sets buds but they don't open! I cover the bulb with a rock like you suggested during the summer months.

It is very pretty. It resembles little orchid flowers. It looks so closely to my purple Epidendrum orchids.

Alex .Not sure why your snowdrop flowers would not open,The only time i can remember that problem was when they became to dry at the roots and the buds aborted.Not sure how much rain you have in the weeks leading up to flowering.Does BIk have any problems with them.Afraid i am not able to read what he says to you. If you are short of rain will send you some .

Ah...maybe it was the dry spell??? Next year, I will water them when the buds start to form.

Bik was commenting on my orchid........I discovered today that they smell really really nice. I also have a purple one but not ready for a picture yet....
