My brothers garden, aerial view!!!!

My brothers garden, aerial view!!!!

My brother had a massive breakdown when he moved to this house two years ago and so did his wife too, he has worked very hard to get it to look like this! (He sent this photo yesterday) I think he is amazing and it brought a tear to my eye to see how hard he has worked. He has a veggie garden at the top and has planted many Camellias, he also loves Hellebores and many unusual plants too.

Beautiful, absolutely beautiful...I love the pathways as well. I wish your brother well GM, there is nothing like a garden for easing a troubled mind.

That is some size of garden, all so beautifully kept. What's on the white paths, GM?
Good on him!

Hi folks, by doing the garden up made him better, so its a thereapy which we can all understand I'm sure. It was moving house that made him ill and when he came home from hospital he started doing the garden which has taken him about the last eighteen months. This is the first time I also have seen this picture we havnt been to their house,(only when he was seriously ill) think it was too much for them to have visitors. (both he and his wife had breakdowns together) Oji, I dont know what the paths are made off, sorry. When my brother sees my garden he laughs because as you can see everything in his looks perfect!!

WoW ,that is fantastic,G.mage..and I love the aerial view!
So sorry to hear about your brother and sister in laws breakdowns....my mum had one too,so I know how hard it is to cope with every day life..so glad he has found such a great interest with the garden..that is some achievement !

15 Apr, 2012

that must have been nearly impossible to deal with, both of them feeling so bad at the same time. you never know what life will deal do you?

15 Apr, 2012

That is incredible. What a sad thing to happen when moving in to such an incredible house. But moving house is very high on the stressors list. What an incredible garden they have made though....and what a place....hmmm....when I win the lottery.....:))))))

Beautiful my type of garden, he has worked hard, hope all is well with them now, and the garden will continue to help them back to good health. It certainly keeps me sane, well reasonably lol

15 Apr, 2012

Obviously gardening has been the "medicine" for him.Hope all is well now.Superb garden and well thought out .

Amazing Grandmage - I would be very proud if I'd done this!!!!!

B= thank you such a nice comment, this photo was sent to me late last night and I was rather overwhelmed by it!
Sticki= I had to phone around the country to get help for them both, their doctor visited and because they both said they were fine!! She left them and told me there was nothing she could do, I went potty and got cracking on the phone eventually they were both taken to hospital and remained there for four months.
Karen= They are the rich side of my family! Lol. Our humble home here in the SE. suits us fine, but if we win the lottery..........
Dd= Lol. I know what you mean, I am always saying that the garden drives me nuts! Thank you they have worked hard.
Meadow= Its true, gardening is therapy (sometimes!) well certainly for my brother.
Paul=I think he is very proud and cannot believe that he has achieved all this, I bet you are proud of what you have achieved too?

15 Apr, 2012

Is your brother a draughtsman...? He has a very good eye for design, scale and proportion. Even the veg beds are perfect.

15 Apr, 2012

I am Happy yes - but nowhere as good as this - :))))))))

16 Apr, 2012

Pim= he was a scientist! But has always been precise about anything, he loves and collects old barometers and clocks and is facinated with the way they work!
Paul, we wouldnt all like our gardens like this, would we? Your garden is beautiful.

16 Apr, 2012

Incredible!....what a great job he has done - he must be very proud of this achievement. Occupying his mind via the garden has obviously work wonders. I wonder is the dials and faces have contributed to the circular design. This would be a lottery win house/garden for me too!

16 Apr, 2012

Oh no Scottish, I would love to visit here if one of my friends had it, but if I won the lottery I would want a woodland garden and informality.

16 Apr, 2012

Ah see P....if I ever win the lottery...fat chance!!! I would have the house, a garden like this surrounded by woodlands, a massive pond - almost lake size and a paddock with sheep and goats - I would want it all except the veggie garden bit!!!!

16 Apr, 2012

A lake and a walled veggie garden bit for me...The house does not matter....I may have a wigwam, with taps and a loo though.

16 Apr, 2012

yes, you can't do without the taps and a loo! They would be top of my list should I ever get back to basics and live in a wigwam!!!! - oh - and a hair dryer!!!!

16 Apr, 2012

Scott=you may be right about the paths being 'clock' shaped, you could well be right there, hadnt thought of that before.!!

16 Apr, 2012

Pleased to hear your brother and his wife are ok now Gm, he has worked hard to do that in eighteen months and obviously that photo would bring a tear to anyones eye knowing what your brother had been through and then to see his creation.
It would have to be a big win for me as well but I`d never be happy without my dogs so it would never stay like that for long, I can admire someone else`s but I couldn`t have it here....

18 Apr, 2012

Me neither Lincs. i like a little bit of the wild in my garden, Lol!! We are all different and it wouldnt do to have all gardens the same, would it?? I dont have animals only about eight cats from neighbours, which get on my nerves because they dig up my garden, So I pack in the plants so there is no earth showing! But I do understand what you mean.

Wow . . . sorry I've only just seen this, Gill, but so glad I have! What an amazing brother you have - not only coming through such a dreadful time, but then setting to and building a beautiful garden - pleased it was therapeutic for him. It's such a great design - just shows how curves can transform a rectangle . . . he's a scientist with an artist's eye :))

Hi Sheila, he is very precise with everything and has always been fascinated by clock movements and barometers, when he was young he always took things to bits to see how they worked! He is a good gentle man, I haven't seen his garden so was amazed when he sent this photo.

1 May, 2012

I bet that looking out of his window at his creation every day makes him feel happy and cheerful :))

1 May, 2012

I do hope so Sheila and yes I am sure it does. :~)

Incredible , an awful lot of work has gone into the planning of it , I'm sure the garden has played a great part in the healing process Grandmage ,I wish them all the luck in the world and hope they will soon be in tip top health to enjoy the fruits of their labour ........

Aw Amy thank you kindly for your lovely kind comments.

Such a lovely laid out garden. He has done so well. You were a very loving sister to fight to get the right care for your brother. I hope he realises how much you care...

17 May, 2012

I think he does Hb :~) although he wouldnt say it! I had no choice, I just had to set to and do what was needed, their son contacted me and asked for help and like any family crisis you get cracking! To this day they will not talk about it, bless em...

My brother told me today that he is opening his garden under the NGS. this June, I am thrilled that he has come this far and hope it goes well for him, which I am sure it will!

Hello Grandmage.
Stunning house and garden, I'd be glad of either, but then again a house with out some sort of garden is hardly a house I settle for. I'm glad u were able to help your brother and sis-in-law and that they recovered. The mind is an amazing thing. It breaks down to regenerate again in an artistic way. Anything artistic is very healing. I duno what I'd do with myself if I wasn't artistic. It's great therapy.

Hi Anjie, how are you? Nice to hear from you. I agree with what you say, yes the mind is very complex and you often hear of people who have had breakdowns, painting and creating lovely things, it certainly is great therapy.

Hi Grandmage. I'm under the weather at the moment with a bad cold/bronchitis thingy going on, but on the mend tho'. I'm just fed up of it and have lost so many days so far. Plus my car is in the hospital also but it's being released today,.
Yes the mind! Never underestimate it!
How are u doing?

31 Oct, 2012
