Really striking colour - it IS an unusual colour for a wallflower

Gorgeous colour. I almost bought one today..lovely golden varieated leaves and deep yellow flowers....but then I remembered I don't like em..lol..funny how you sometimes forget what you 'don't like' eh? Yours is gorgeous, if it had been that colour, I probably would have bought it! :))

Unusual shade isn't it, Terra? ....... Lol, Yorkshire, this is the first one to bloom so far ... but I did deadhead three Daffodils today as they began flowering in January ... :o) ....... Sheilar, it will be lovely if the others are this colour ... fingers crossed ... :o) ....... Karen, they were just a huge bunch from the greengrocers, so half went to Mum as she loves her Wallflowers ... I dug up a Grape Hyacinth today ... now there's a flower I detest ... lol! ... :o)

It was funny though...me with the wallflower in my hand...thinking...mmm...nice foliage..would be great in my yellow front garden in a pot....what colour is the flower? ...ah, a nice shade of gold...mm....(goes to put pot in trolley..then...) thinks...but I detest wallflowers! What am I thinking?...replaces pot in disgust....lol x I suppose we all have moments like that. Usually though, I forget that I 'hate it' before I buy it! :))

I love this colour too,Shirley..very unusual....I never use to be overjoyed with Wallflowers either, but suddenly changed my mind for some unknown reason..and I love their cheerful colours at this time of year now,and so long lasting too...mine are all starting to bloom :o)

Karen, I fear I shall always have some in the garden ... despite sending a shoe box full of them to David in Fife a couple of years ago ... grrr! ... I did laugh at the fact you almost found a home for that Wallflower ... almost! .....

Motty, I love this colour too ... tips on propagating it more than welcome .. but would it come true? .....

Sandra, I must admit to liking Wallflowers, Forget-me-nots, Daffodils ... anything to herald Springtime I guess! ... :o))) .....

I agree Shirley, all a welcome sight...only thing we differ in ,are the Grape Hyacinths ! Lol.. sorry, but butting in here..wallflowers so easy to propagate..tip cuttings after flowering,in a shady place..they romp away..:o)

Oh thanks for that info. Sandra ... with the help of the greenhouse I should have some more for next year! ... :o)

Glad to help..If you prune the ones you already have, after flowering, down to where you see new growth appearing, you can take the tips from those prunings..and the originals will get bushier, instead of looking leggy..so two jobs done in one...This is my 3rd year with the same ones..:o)

Thanks, Sandra ... I've always discarded them after flowering ... :o(

Ooh, beautiful deep pink . . . you wouldn't know it was a Wallflower!

17 Mar, 2012

It is very unusual for a Wallflower isn't it, Sheilabub? ... I hope I can keep it going for the future!

Thanks, Holly ... I was so surprised to see this colour as the others seem to have deep red or golden yellow buds ... which is more usual ... :o)
