So lovely....

That looks like Summer Snow...but what is the blue...it's really pretty...nemesia?

22 Oct, 2011

Yes - spot on with both! :-))

Thanks, Franny and Motinot.

I'll be on the lookout for that gorgeous blue nemesia next year B!

I wish mine were hardy. Louise has 'Confetti' which actually spreads and survives in her garden. :-O

Lucky Louise!

She has her own micro-climate, K. A lot of plants survive the winter there, but don't here. Her front garden gets very hot, too.

23 Oct, 2011

Remarkable isn't it...microclimates. Does she live on a south facing hillside then? With some sort of land mass or woodland protecting her from the North and East....or does she actually live in the Eden Project? lol...only kidding! :)) You know, I would really love to visit the Isles of Scilly, but I don't know how I could get there without having to do a journey which would undoubtedly make me very ill! It would be amazing to see those gardens....and all the artists working there and no cars..it must be a wonderful place. I saw an ad for a cruise of the channel Islands, Scilly, Cornwall, Ireland...my idea of a really good holiday. Shame I could never go....I would be ill the whole time! I find that incredibly frustrating!

Yes, she's on a hillside. The (front) garden seems sheltered to me. She does get a lot of wind there, and I can't understand why her plants survive and mine don't - if the wind hits mine, they lose their leaves - sometimes permanently. :-((

I'd like to go to the Eden Project AND the Scillies - maybe we'll go together and hold each other up - what do you think?

24 Oct, 2011

Oh, B, I couldn't ask anyone to hold me up on a boat! It would just be a dreadful task! I am such a bad traveller..I make myself sick driving the car!! honestly, I'm not kidding. I get sick on trains, in planes and worst of all, by a mile, boats! I am not 'made' for travel....which is a pity because I would like nothing better than to travel all over the UK like a gypsy, enjoying all the little market towns and hidden beaches! Google Earth is a great thing! lol :))))

24 Oct, 2011

Oh, poor you. I'm sorry to hear that. :-(( xxx

24 Oct, 2011

Those flowers look beautiful Spritz. I was amazed to see my Nemesia still in flower too (a lovely mauve one, don't know the name). I thought they were ALL hardy, so will find out!

Oh dear, poor Karen. I would love to go to the Scillies too, but don't fancy the ferry. Maybe splash out and go on the helicopter?? At least it would be quick . . .

24 Oct, 2011

No, they're definitely not hardy, Sheila, I'm sad to say. 'Confetti' is the one that can be if you're lucky - like Louise! ;-)

24 Oct, 2011

I'm reluctant to argue with an expert . . . and I must have been lucky, because I have a sheltered gravel bed in my front garden, where Nemesia planted two years ago reappeared this year - a bit wispy admittedly, but they appeared!

However, I will respect your superior knowledge (creep, creep), and bring my others indoors this winter, as I do love them!

24 Oct, 2011

Wow! You were lucky! :-)

I've just googled it, and there's a selection of Nemesia denticulata 'Confetti'. They are described as 'hardy'. The bedding ones are N. strumosa, and they're annuals.

So 'you' might have a N. denticulata!

25 Oct, 2011

Ah . . . that explains it - well done B.!

26 Oct, 2011

The difficulty comes when you read the labels on Nemesia plants - they don't put the second Latin name on, do they! I did read that N. denticulata has toothed leaves (hence the name lol) while the others have smooth edged leaves. I'll know what to look for next year!

26 Oct, 2011

Exactly! And that sounds like a good tip - all I have to do is remember to think of teeth, lol.

26 Oct, 2011

lovely flowers

26 Oct, 2011

Thanks - can you buy Nemesia. Aleyna?

26 Oct, 2011

Very pretty Spritz....

28 Oct, 2011

:-))

28 Oct, 2011

Lovely nemesia..and I do like the combo Spritz.

29 Oct, 2011

Thanks, Tet. :-)
