17 Oct, 2011

Thank you,Stikki! Very sweet words. How lovely, you are also learning WC's.Have been doing it for about 3 years but still find it hard. How about you?............No loo.Pixi LOL.I can see how it was misconstrued!!!!!I think the mediums we choose probably match our personalities!!

Only 5 weeks meadowland. I signed up for a course and I love it. Previously I thought I would like oils because of their bright colours. I had a little go with them but I don't think I understood what I was doing. I'm not good at drawing. What I love about water colour is the effects and the surprises it gives! I have a lot to learn yet though!
Our homework this week is to copy a picture using only one colour - but using tones and shades!

18 Oct, 2011

Hah yes maybe they do! Have you ever tried acrylics or oils? WC is the hardest paint to use!

18 Oct, 2011

Looks excellent to my (untalented) eyes. Beautiful colours.

18 Oct, 2011

I find the larger the water colour the more difficult it is. The colour palette is lovely Meadowland.

18 Oct, 2011

Exactly,I do as well.Do you have any to show Pimpernel? My love is to do water scenes where you can use the "Wet in wet" method.

18 Oct, 2011

Have never tried oils or acrylics.Still waiting for the teacher from up north to teach meLOL!!!!!!

18 Oct, 2011

that's great Stikki!.I went for 2 years to evening class.Remember doing what you described. At the time it seemed such a task, but at the end of the 2 years i felt i had learnt so much.Stick with it StikkiLOL!!!

I have just dug out the Windsor and Newtons not seen them for years. I was doing abstracts when I last used them, abstracts are very useful when you have paint doing what it is not supposed to be doing ;0) I will get some paper at weekend.

18 Oct, 2011

Great Pimpernel. Good old Windsor and Newton. Will it be an abstract?Look forward to it.

18 Oct, 2011

yes please pimpernel, im looking forward to that too.
i like wet in wet too meadowland.

18 Oct, 2011

It's really good method for skies and water.Stikki!

18 Oct, 2011

18 Oct, 2011

in your youth?? you are not still in your youth???

18 Oct, 2011

yes great for skies ~ you never know quite what will happen!! but to my mind there is so much water in the sky, in the clouds, it seems the right medium to portray them.

18 Oct, 2011

You are gonna miss it if you dont hurry Stiki

18 Oct, 2011

20 Oct, 2011

Meadowland and Stickie, my pictures have already been on here, you will have to go back to my blogs to find them.

22 Oct, 2011

Ive just seen them Rose. They are lovely.Especially drawn to the water scene.Do you use "wet in wet" for the reflections?I'm assuming it is WC!

22 Oct, 2011

Yes It is water colour but as I use tubes, to get more detail of trees e.t.c. I use them with a dry paint brush.I start by doing it all wet and then I build it all up gradually which is why they don't all look like water colour. I went to night school for painting about 18 years ago.I could draw but not paint and when I did ,the teacher said ,although it wasn't like water colour , it was my way of painting and should stick to it, so I did.I think I did do wet in wet for the water scenes, but as its a few years since I did them, I can't quite remember.

23 Oct, 2011

Beautiful, I would be VERY WILLING to hang this in my house - I should be so lucky; -...

23 Oct, 2011

Its the only one I could possibly show on here.Could always negotiate LOL!!!!!!!!! Thank you for the kind comments.
