You brought back an old memory for me then Holly..one of my sons, when young..used to collect acorns..draw a face on them..& stick pins for arms & legs..then sell them at school for pennies..imagine trying that these days..he would be in a lot of trouble..he was 40 yesterday, must ask him if he remembers doing it..lol Thanks for that :o)

Its many a year since i have seen the trees and shrubs so loaded with berries and nuts, in particular the Acorns, the ground of the woods I walk in are covered with thousands of them.
There were lots of uses as a child one I remember was to cut the end off hollow them out, make a small hole in the side with a meat skewer push a match stick through and we had a pipe like dads.Girls used to have them skewered through end ways and threaded on string to make beads. Its hard to believe now how such simple things kept us occupied for hours 70 years ago .

thats a good idea........ :)

I ve read if you put one in each corner of the room they won't enter it, as the conker releases a gas.
