What a lovely perfect peony picture. I have planted a red peony this year and it has just one flower on it which came out today. Much smaller than yours though.

Thanks Dawn , I had one of these to start with and now I have 3 , somehow pieces have been chopped off and started a life on there own which has surprised me because I didn't think they liked being moved ...
It will soon grow Mariek nice to have even one flower to start with :o))

That's a fallacy Amy, I move mine from pillar to post and heaven help me if I leave a piece behind..pops up all unexpected! They thrive as long as they are planted at the right depth!

Thanks Tet , that explains it I thought we were just being lucky , I've no idea as to it's name it's been in the garden for so long in fact I think it was given to us! probably by someone else that had it growing everywhere :o))

Lovely colour Amy, my white one will be open any day now:-)

We have one that has not flowered in 11 years, how deep should it be, my white one is fine, did not move it as I thought you could not move them duh!! I love your pic.

The tubers should be 2.5 inches below the surface DD, if buried too deep apparently they dont flower. If you have a lot of tubers you can cut them up (bit like iris rhizome) and as long as they have two or three "eyes" they will be fine. Ive given loads away in the past to family and they are all doing fine.

Right this Autumn will dig it up and replant.

beautifull :o)

12 May, 2011

I forgot to say that it needs a tuber with the bit of crown with the eyes DD, just in case you get adventurous!
