Garden Pictures Pictures of Cosmos bipinnatus (23 photos)
Cosmos????
I'm sure this came from a packet of T&M Cosmos double click. I planted out the seedlings a couple of weeks ago, and was amazed to see this 6" plant in bloom. It is neither double or 3 ft tall!!! Is it me that is confused or the plant???

Its in dappled shade Lori. I think I was surprised that they started to flower so quickly after I planted them out. A lot of them are flowering now, even though still small but they are also growing fast, so in the end I think thye will get to their proper size. The ones I grew last year grew very big and were late flowering.

I love cosmos cause I bought a pack of seed years ago and haven't had to buy another since! they self seed and I recognize them when they self seed and start to emerge in the spring...they pick their own spot...and they are so lacy foliaged, and grow so tall that they can fit just about anywhere...

depends on how much cultivating you've done... sometimes the seed remains in the soil for a couple of seasons once the soil is turned...then the next time you cultivate...up come all these lovely little sleeping seeds and voila! wonder where that came from??? lol. It's one of my fav parts of gardening...learning what sprout is which plant!
What else?
See who else is growing Cosmos bipinnatus (Cosmos).
See who else has plants in genus Cosmos.
