Aleurites moluccana - Kukui Nut Tree, Candlenut Tree

Aleurites moluccana - Kukui Nut Tree, Candlenut Tree (Aleurites moluccana - Kukui Nut Tree, Candlenut Tree)

Kukui Nut tree becomes a very large tree in the tropics. Here in San Diego it usually tops out at only about 50ft/16m tall. This tree is growing happily at San Diego Botanical Gardens. Photo taken March1, 2011. By the way this tree was loaded with thousands of nuts.

Grandmage:

From what I've read, the nuts are edible...and used in Indonesian and Malaysian cuisine.
