Or old bricks...warm pink..sunk into the ground around the bed like a halo.

I was thinking brick as well . I've seen brick borders, buried at an angle, with the corner pointing upward. It's a very attractive look. I've seen this used in straight lines. Would probably work in a cirlce as well. But, like Mike says white. That would compliment your statue well and it would be easier to install :)
