Well was warned this would happen but not to worry can see top pond beginning to clear no chemicals used just oxygenators not deterring the birds though.

Apparently it does clear - in order to fill this with rainwater Id need to have drained half of Yorkshire should have done it last summer would have filled in a few hours.Just got this months Gardeners World mag .takes you through pond construction step by step - thanks guys.

Yes - advice always seems to come a couple of weeks too late dosen't it. Watched Gardeners World yesterday and talked all about sowing beans and courgettes and things - a full week AFTER I'd sown all mine :-S

Oh dear, Bonkers! I wonder if this is because you used tap water? I used rainwater in mine and it's stayed clear so far. A bundle of barley straw is meant to help - something to do with bacteria that lives on it, I think?
