The growth on this appears a bit denser. I also prefer it in a bit of shade which seems to enhance the flower and leaf colours

Mine has been in full sun since it was planted and is doing very well.I find it a very easy shrub, my absolute favorite in the gardens.

I have a young one from a cutting last year - they are really healthy good value plants. I was wondering whether to plant it in shade or not, so thanks for the pointer, Andrew!

My remarks on this shrub seem to have caused confusion.
It will take sun or part shade quite happily. To my mind, the flower colour and variegation look better out of full sun but that is just a personal preference
See who else is growing Weigela florida.
See who else has plants in genus Weigela.

Oh dear. I've got a young one like this. I've put it in a sunny position. It looks OK so far and is just coming into flower so I hope it survives.
