ugh! What is it with cats called Birtie?! My Birtie is SO accident prone! Wouldn't mind betting she ends up in the same state as yours when she's older! To date, she's had ear infections, cistitis, gingivitis, an eye infection, she got hit by a reversing car (luckily no permanent damage done), the day before yesterday she managed to fall off the greenhouse roof (!) and today (goodness knows how she managed it) she managed to get her collar up into her mouth! Luckily, the safety thingy gave way and hte collar came off just as I got to her. I'm telling you - it's a Birtie thing!!! Or maybe a black and white Birtie thing!?

In answer to your question, my Birtie will be 3 in November (rough estimate!) Anyone would think she wasn't well looked-after, but this cat is SO spoilt! She even has her own toybox that she leans against when she wants someone to come play with her and her own blanket which my mum knitted for her and I make special journies to get the food she likes! She nearly had another accident yesterday - we've got an up-and-over garage door and I went to close it and heard a scraping sound and looked up to see a cat sliding gracelessly towards me down the door! Luckily I caught her before she got to the edge and transfered her to the lawn. Oh dear, what am I to do with her....?

Has anyone told your Birtie that cat's only have 9 lives, Sarah ? ;-)
My old dog, Jasper, was a 'rescue' and is 16 years old too. Eb. We call him our 'Battersea Special' , he was a very young puppy when we went to Battersea Dogs' Home looking for a pet dog. It was love at first sight :-)
