Find my blackbirds love the apples i put out, when they have young ones can't keep up with them.

In the past no-one has bothered with apples I put down but I'm so glad I did, which brought the fieldfare down.

Nearly all spring and summer the blackbirds can go through 3-4 apples a day when feeding their young ones.

Crikey Clarice - they must cost you a fortune, but worth it.

It does, once asked asda what they did with there old apples and pears as find blackbirds like them aswell, but they said they have to throw them away and because of health and saftey they could not let me have any, they said they are not aloud to even let the local zoo have them.

What a waste , I watched a programme on TV once about people who go to the supermarket skips and actually live on all the stuff thats been thrown out , I'm not sure if it still goes on or if they have found a way to stop it ! . Another nice pic. Dawn :o)

Thanks Amy.

Good photo Dawn. We too put apples out for the blackbirds. We buy the cheapest possible but as Clarice says it does work out expensive especially during spring.

I chop up the apple (left over from the tortoises) and put it out. It all seems to go but I don't know who takes it :)
Great photo, they both certainly look a bit wary of each other.

oh well done. Ive tried to get a photo of the fieldfare in our garden but havnt got a good enough camera. They spend most of their time chasing away the blackbirds. I think the markings around their eyes make them look cross all the time

Gee bet its the blackbirds :o)))

Thanks everyone. These apples were off our own trees and have been in the garage since the Autumn, some were going a big wizzened so the birds got lucky.
