Great shot Deida .. we have one that flies within a few feet of kitchen window but banned from photoing as aiming for goldfinches and sparrows ..yours a much better pose ..

Lovely natural setting for the sparrowhawk. We get them here catching the small birds but we live right next to the fields.

Yes, you very often see the feathers where the Sparrow hawk has sat and plucked it. I've twice had the situation where we've heard a huge bang and then realised it was something hitting the window. When I investigated, on both occassions there was a very clear mark on the window of a wing, presumably the dove trying to get away. Not seen himm for a while though!

come to think ,few weeks ago seen a lot of feathers on the front lawn ,looked like a carcase of a dove or pigeon, very well plucked.I thought a cat got hold of the bird..well well you learn every day on GOY
