He he Morgana David a real specialist with his chocolate themed garden - even used chocolate coloured wood stain for decking and fencing .. quite what thats got to do with gannets not sure ...lol

Hi Phil this taken on cliffs at Bempton between Filey and Bridlington on East coast of Yorkshire. This the only place where Gannets nest and breed on mainland all other spots on islands such as Farne and Bass Rock.Great for puffins too but numbers much reduced this year ..

Thanks Milky.

Thank You for the pic, Bb. I see the Bass Rock almost every day, and can visit on a day-trip. Gannets and chocolate? Are you insinuating something here? :-)

Here's a couple of things I could link gannets and fish to chocolate:-

Last Christmas, at work, I won a prize in a raffle. It was a wooden box containing a bottle of Burgundy and chocs in the shape of sardines (laced with chilli, too - I savoured every bite and slurp, lol!

Just last week, we bought 3 new fish for our coldwater aquarium. Orandas (a type of fan-tailed goldfish), in shades of brown and gold. Guess what the "variety" name is? Yes, you got it - Oranda "Chocolate" - Hee Hee!!!!

Thanks David ..wow what a view for you we dont see them dive here which must be a fantastic sight .

Morgana thinks the ladies got the chocolate issue covered but if you even buying chocolate fish still think they got a way to go lol

Nice pic Bonkers. Jean and I stayed a guest house in Bempton a few years ago and enjoyed lots of walks along the cliffs watching the Gannets.

Can recall when no RSPB info centre and no fences could perch right next to cliffs with Puffins ..see so few these days .

We really not too far from here so have a shed and in previous life worked as a male nurse so what more could you want ?

3 Sep, 2009

?What does nursing have to do with gannets?

Probably nowt. Ah, just made a connection - all those "thank you" gits of boxes of chocs!!!! And, I bet, you all scoffed them like gannets, too. :-)

Trying to get a pic of our "chocolate" fish, but the camera flash ruins them all. :-(

Aw David I do what it says on the tin lol .. bonkers ..sorry Toto lives in his shed with his male nurse visited Bempton so thought as used to work as one would reassure him if he visited again ..quite straight forward really ..

Asks a man who now keeps chocolate fish ..remember chocolate snails ?

Thanks Bonkers. I just new that there was a connection. There is now a RSPB shed at Bempton which I have visited but there was nobody around at the time.

Oh happy with BB most people call me bonkers ..lol Clarice just introducing my proper name as you Carol Is St Bees head near you ?

They have a shop there too now escorted walks even a new garden bird area kinda liked it when fewer people went Toto sure you d love that shed but long way off the beaten track ..

4 Sep, 2009

I have visited St. Bees and hope to again as I would like to walk the Coast to Coast.

5 Sep, 2009

Me too Toto ..think of sponsorship we could raise from Goyers getting rid of us for a few weeks ! or possibly all together doing such a thing at our age ..now if you set off from St Bees and me from Robin Hoods Bay we could meet half way would that be cheating ?

Perhaps we could do a little detour and have a pint at the highest pub in England ..

6 Sep, 2009

Actually stayed at the Tan Hill pub and had one or two pints there when I walked the Pennine Way with two mates in 2003.
