I had to cut mine down in the spring it had grown up through a Viburnum and spread out across the top it looked nice as i could look down on it from the house but was killing the Viburnum so it had to go.

Oh what a shame Bjs, but some Clematis can get a bit rampant can't they?
Surprising really, Louise as these were so far nort east , you would have thought yours would have been earlier in the south west!

Does this have those lovely white cotton like seeds, if so its another feature imho

Yes, think so. That's what got some of the Clematis the common name 'Old Man's Beard' I believe.
