Thanks for the helpful advice Lori.
Strangely enough, we have had Robins 'attacking' the mirror on one occasion this year as they have been 'surveying' the garden, and we think they were considering a site for nest building. Obviously one of them thought it was an intruding Robin and wanted to see it off the site!. Luckily, it didnt come to any harm, but Robins can be quite territorial and aggressive apparently.
It was quite incredible. If the Robins, or any other birds do decide to settle in the future we may have to consider your idea as more birds are now venturing into the garden which is a good sign for an inner city site.

birds are an unmistakeable sign of success!
On the other hand, I had a flicker fly into my sliding doors onto my deck...just...bam! I thought he was out cold..so I didn't rush out ...but he lay still for a long time and it was sad to see that he had broken his neck.
Funny old robins, though! Your robins are different from ours..yours look so sweet and petite... I saw four robins the other day...poor things...the snow is so deep...they will never find food... They are so welcome, their song is a cheerily, cheerily, cheerily, cheep. and their alarm call is a loud Beep! The return of the crows and robins has always been the first sign of spring here.

I have orange paper taped and yellow and red ribbons hanging from my windows and the birds still crash them ! They actually try to fly between the sheets of paper. It's a big problem with living in the woods.

You have even used illusion to expand your space...to very good effect.
As a nature person...I'm wondering if you ever have small birds mistake it for a passage and fly into it? As I was looking at the photo I remembered something I used to do ...At home there was an area with large windows back and front and birds used to make that mistake...We cut a piece of non reflective mylar...it had tiny black dots...in the shape of a falcon and placed it on the upper part of the window. To the song birds it looked like the shadow of a hawk passing overhead...it was effective in keeping the little birds from killing themselves and wasn't as intrusive as posting a fake owl or somesuch. a small illusion to add to your illusion, perhaps?
