The things you miss
The things you miss

I’ve been spending more time in the garden since the weather has improved and it’s nice to notice some of the smaller things now I’m not in a rush to avoid the next rain shower.
This weekend I noticed that two more of my heathers have started to flower – both my ‘Valerie Proudly’ Erica vagans and my ‘prostrate orange’ Calluna vulgaris have developed the tiniest little flowers.
Calluna Vulgaris ‘Prostrate Orange’
The flowers on the Erica vagans are in little clumps at the end of each branch, at first glance they looked like hard growths, it was only when I looked closer I realised they were flowers.

Not everything in the garden is planted, and it’s nice to to see (some) creepy crawlies going about their business. In the rain I wouldn’t have noticed this small spider, in fact I doubt he would have been able to set up home on the tomatoes.

As I was kneeling to take the photo of the spider I also disturbed a grasshopper who just sat on the path while I was snapping away.
Aaahhhh, grasshopper
