Hi Folks,

Ajay and I have been working on a new website for bird lovers and would love to get your feedback on www.ispyabird.co.uk.

The new site has been alive for a couple of weeks now and is similar to Grows on You – a friendly place for amateur bird watchers to share their interest and photos.

Working on GoY we’ve noticed how much interest there is in birds, and that some of the ‘serious’ twitching websites can be a bit daunting. We thought the enthusiasm seemed worth a friendly new site!

We’ve already asked a few GoY members to join so you might see some familiar faces :o)

Now we’d like to extend the invite to everyone so if you’re interested in garden birds or bird spotting, please visit www.ispyabird.co.uk and try it out.

Happy gardening, & I hope you enjoy the new site :o)

I've already had a browse of the new site and it looks good! Unfortunately, I've been unable to photograph any birds as yet - they wont hold still long enough LOL

4 Jun, 2010

good luck with the site it does look interesting, but like sid said time i've got the camera they've flown off. :o) plus we have hundreds of cats near me, making the birds nervous..

Nice idea guys!

My camera, whilst not bad for plants, is lousy, really, for animated birds, but loving trying to catch 'em!

Mrsmelon/Debbie/ Miss naughty????? I Love your fruity and veggy pics, btw!
You can't change your "name" on either site once chosen - so that, as they say, is that!!! You are stuck with them! :-))

Off now, to try to catch me a pic o' a parrot!!

4 Jun, 2010

we seem to get loads of starlings always hungry ,sometimes little birds dont get a look in ,but now we know when to put food out for all the birds

6 Jun, 2010

Glad you like it folks :o)

I have noticed the same thing trying to catch photos of them - the water birds seem easier to catch - bigger and don't seem to mind me getting closer.

MrsMelon - David is right. I'm afraid your name on GoY (and I Spy) can't be changed once it's been chosen.

One of the things that always made me gasp, in the past, were the stunning pics of Humming Birds (Hummers) posted here on GOY. They are truly magnificent, and would love to see them on "Ispy", too? :-))

27 Jun, 2010

I would love birds to come into my garden but they don't. I think that it may be because I have dogs, after saying that they never chase the birds but I suppose the birds don't know that .The other thing is when I put seed or fat balls out the squirrel always gets them and eats the fat balls and seed. I try to get them so the are out of squrrel reach and squirrel proof feeders but I think they have been put of by the Squirrel.
Shame ,wish I hadn't encouraged the Squirrel.

I Spy Birds was and is a lovely idea-I've already had good feedback about our blackbirds & their young which was really helpful.
Cranberry do you have plenty of 'cover' for the birds to feel safe in? When we moved to this garden there were no birds cos of no trees or shrubs but now despite having 2 cats & an occasional squirrel, we have loads of birds & they nest here too!

16 Jul, 2010

Glad you're enjoying I Spy, folks :o) Your comments must have passed by in the blur that was the last few weeks!

16 Jul, 2010

You have a beautiful wee chick of your very own to rear, now! ;-)

16 Jul, 2010

I do indeed David :o) She is eating as I type, actually, she eats most of the time.

17 Jul, 2010

And they say us men cant multi task .. feeding the baby whilst typing , well done Peter.

17 Jul, 2010

Not sure I can claim that, BB. Maybe I should have said "she is eating, in another room, with her mum, as I type" :o)

So far single tasking with a baby is proving tricky :o)
