LOL. Well, if you don't want it any more, then do just that!

Sorry - wasn't meaning to be rude. I do hope it flowers again for you. I have one that my daughter was given at the moment. She is NOT a gardener and doesn't take care of indoor plants really, either. I rescued it from a full sun position, all wilting and half-dead and it has just started to produce a new stem! (I don't think I shall give it back - hehe!)

Not quite - but nearly, Pepperpot. When the last flower has fallen off the stem, cut the stem back to just above the bottom node - that's the little flap you can see on it. Then wait for a while, watering and feeding as usual. Keep an eye on:
1. the stump of the stem, as a new stem may grow from it,
2. in between the leaves as new stems also grow there.

If after a few weeks there's no sign of a new stem, take your orchid into another room a FEW degrees cooler than its usual position. It needs to be light, not dark. Leave it there for 3 weeks and then bring it back again. This usually does the trick and starts a new stem off.

Good luck!

By the way, it would die in a cold and dark place - they like warm, light positions.

Thanks for the reminder, Pepperpot.
I must check that my Mother has the jab, when she gets a bug it makes her very poorly and they seem to stay with her for a long time

I'm very happy to say that I've never had the flu ( knock on wood ) but decided to get a shot last week for the first time ever. At 62 I thought it might be a good idea to start getting the shots :)

Mice, rats, birds perhaps? Actually I cannot see any damage, just some little grapes, that haven't developed. Maybe it is my eyesight, lol.

I'm not over 60 yet but I've heard I could have a flu injection because I am a carer for my elderly mother. I'll have to look into it. Maybe it's only so in England but I'll have to find out.

It must be the same species as I have in my fishpond. Did it say it needed a lot of water?

That is one very good way to get children introduced to gardening. Nice novel idea, good photo.

Good for you! I have just had a European flu, I think I have antibodies now. Here we're going into summer.
Are flu needles free there too for the over 60-tees?

Isn't this the Taro plant: Colocasia esculenta? These come from India and here in Queensland they are a weed.

I was wondering what that thing was in the sky. lol. It was a nice day yesterday and I'm glad you enjoyed it Pepper pot. It's raining here now - how miserable again. Still maybe the autumn will bring some decent weather before winter sets in.
All the best, Hywel.

So pleased you had a day of sun, but sorry your forecast is not so good. When reading all your comments from UK about your terrible weather, I sometimes feel guilty that we are having day after day of hot sunny weather here in Hungary, so I promise to myself not to moan about the lack of rain and the need to water the garden yet again!

Love the fire pit. We have a copper one that lives in the shed that we bring out every now and then. But like you say you smell of smoke and the kids just want to poke it.
