Dinosaur Hunters and Live Dinosaurs! High Jinx at the Farm Park.

19 comments

As those of you who saw my blog about my lawn care last week will know, I was busy again this weekend being a new character at a Dinosaur weekend at a family farm park. I already do a fair bit of work at weekends dressed as a Pirate ,Wizard or Mad Hatter at various venues but one Family Farm Park in particular.
A couple of people asked me to put up some photos of the dinosaurs etc so, here they are;
Introducing Sir Terrence Dactile (Terry to his friends) …Dinosaur Hunter extraordinaire…(well, he’s extraordinary, anyway)

I’m always a bit anxious when creating a new character in case people don’t like it.Also, Dinosaurs are a big pull but, I was a bit concerned that people didn’t want to see some silly old devil acting daft and cracking jokes, all they wanted was to see the dinosaurs but,I needn’t have worried….I was well received. Although, they were very busy days with so many activities going on so I obviously didn’t see/interact with everybody.(approx 1600 visitors Sat and 1500 Sunday)
And, there have been lots of photos posted on various social media sites, always a good sign people enjoyed their day out.
Here are a few of them;

Lots of Fossils and bones to dig for…(Sir Terrence wasn’t the only old fossil there!!)

We also dug for Potatoes and the children got to take them home to cook.
Sir Terrences friend Derek the Dodo accompanied him on some of the digs (I must say I enjoyed this part and was able to tell parents and children a little about growing potatoes and the poisonous parts etc) the children and the parents liked Derek(nothing to do with the Dinosaur period but he has been extinct for a long while so, a small but very tenuous link)

And, some people said some lovely things!!

I’m afraid Sir Terrence and Derek didn’t behave themselves all the time.They gave this poor man a terrible time !! But, his wife obviously thought it hilarious and posted photo and comments!!

And, although busy, some members of staff enjoyed it!
Especially Sue and Jo !

Sorry, no pictures posted of the other Dinosaurs (well, not that I could find)
My next outing at the farm will be as this fella, Wizard Cello during October Half Term….Wizards and Witches Week.

I hope it made you chuckle
Happy gardening and dinosaur hunting
Paul

What a wonderful time you gave them Paul - thank you for the pictures. It must be grand to make so many people happy! The wizard getup is wonderful - and you seem to do allright for witches too...Where do you get the costumes?

Thanks Linda and Stera.
Julie made the wizard one although I bought the boots from India (online) they are actually Viking re enactment boots. The wig/beard was made by the same chap who makes my Father Christmas set. ....but cost me £725 so I need loads of bookings to pay for it!! Most of my costumes are sourced online form various places like Amazon, EBay and, mainly LARP sites(re enactment ).
That witch, Amy, is a lovely girl but she won't be working there this year as she is currently dancing on a cruise liner!

I envy you Paul being able to behave like a kid, having so much fun and no one thinks you're crazy...well not everyone. Keep on going Paul I think your great.

You sure did Paul ! You looked like you were having a great time and I'm sure being nuts helps ! Hahaa!

Nothing better than making people laugh waddy and rose......
And, although I like to think people like what I do, it's not like when you're younger trying to do such things....I think it's easier at this age to accept that not everyone will like what you do and I feel more comfortable than I would've done at a young age!

Wise words..

The little lad in the blue t-shirt looks petrified, Paul! Well done you for making it a fun day out for the visitors.

If you rehearse your characters in your back garden have you found your new neighbors looking at you strangely or running away from you when you leave your house or for that matter running towards you with a large butterfly net?

They have a young son, Loosestrife and he thinks it's hilarious.There is also a young family across the road (with two daughters) and they think I'm a bit crazy but they love to see my different characters.They even came to a theme park Iw as working in once to see me as Captain Blackfoot, the pirate!
Actually Shirley, that little boy knows me as he's a regular at Marsh Farm and has seen me as many characters (so he's used to my craziness) and his mum always puts photos on Facebook.
Thanks Stera.

Ha ha....but a bit bizarre...eh?
I have to be careful in December when I do my Santa bookings that the little ones don't see me getting into my car in Santa costume.But, the boy next door isn't a believer and he knows I do it but, I wouldn't want to spoil it for the believers.
