A Day in My Garden...at last !

Morning, everyone. I’ve been so incredibly busy that I’ve not really spent any time in my new garden.well, apart from laying a shed base back in January/Feb and last week I finally got round to laying a base for my greenhouse, which I have now ordered. How exciting.
But, I’ve been busy with my customers’ gardens(and now I have to travel 35 miles round trip each day to get to them) as well as doing things in the house, buying furniture(boy, does that take some time) and I’ve had loads of bookings recently for my characters the pirate and Mad Hatter. But, I am going out in the garden now to make a couple adjustments to the greenhouse base, and then I’ll start digging my veg patch out. So, not much to see yet, but, here’s the new shed which was erected end Feb. At least we have somewhere dry to store things as the shed that was here when we arrived in December was rotting and falling apart!!

This is what the area looked like in December when we moved in. This is a shady part of the garden so it made more sense to have the shed here and my veg patch where the old shed was(the sunniest spot of the garden)

Oh, I nearly forgot, I added a water butt a couple of weeks ago too!!

Oh well, here goes……..
Happy Gardening,
Paul

Well done Paul looks a lot better.

And,this morning, I've sorted the greenhouse base...just had to lift a few slabs and re lay.and I've laid a slab by the washing line.Trouble is, back bad again now so no digging of VEg patch.I am learning to be more patient these days.Even though I want to do everything at once, I can't!
So we are going to take Paddy for a walk in Hockley Woods to see the Bluebells. We quite often went to see the Bluebells near where we used to live around Julie's birthday. It was yesterday but we went to the seaside at Frinton yesterday.Poor old Paddy was wacked out ,so just a short walk today!!!
I only do 6 days gardening work a fortnight now so,I'm hoping we'll have plenty of time to enjoy ourselves when I'm not being a pirate or some other character!!!

Looks very smart for a Pirate or even for a Mad Hatter 10/6. You said time, whos got the time , bad back you spent to long being that scare crow, it will all come together eventually bit by bit.

Cant wait to see the green house. At least Paul you ve got a good size garden its lovely.

Oh to walk through a blue bell wood enjoy and dont forget some pics.

Thanks Dawn.....I will take my time with the garden....no choice really now as I seem to hurt my back every time I do something energetic.
I took my camera but didn't take picture(must be honest...my back was so bad,it was as much as I could do to walk...just couldn't stand still to,take picture) Also, the Bluebells were still there but not spectacular.I've never been to Hockley woods at this time of year before so, maybe we didn't pick the best part for the Bluebells.

I haven't been on here myself for a while. Things get in the way sometimes don't they.
I like your shed. I hope it won't fill with junk like mine has done ;)
You've got a blank canvas with your garden. Good luck !

Thanks Hywell....no, I am a bit obsessive about my shed being clear(ish) but that's not easy as I had two sheds and a huge garage at the last house(the garage here is much smaller) so I had to clear a lot of stuff out when we moved!!

11 May, 2015

I did that too, but my shed is still overflowing :D

11 May, 2015

I'm sure all the stuff will come in handy one day lol!!

In other words you don't have any hidden or messy bits to show us Paul, lol.
It looks grand and you'll be in seventh heaven when you get your g'house set up, I'm not going to tell you off about your back cos I am guilty of gardening with injuries as well.
Pleased you have more bookings Paul, it means more pennies to spend on the enjoyable things doesn't it, hope your back improves for you, perhaps a bit of warm weather will ease it for you...

New sheds are lovely - the smell of new wood is still on them. Your garden is looking very inviting now - all geared up and ready to go! Do you know what the plan is or does it develop as you go along?

Thanks LincsL and Stera.
I will need quite a few pennies to buy all the plants although, whether I'll have the time to go buy the, is doubtful.
I have plans Stera......next to the greenhouse(where the old shed was at the back of garden) I will have a veg patch although it will come further forward then the greenhouse.
The garden isn't the sunniest(being North west facing) so I am planning to have quite a lot of grasses.(there are quite a few that will tolerate part shade) it will, hopefully, be a much more contemporary(and less high maintenance) than my former garden that had huge herbaceous borders.the borders won't be particularly big...Julie wants to still have a reasonable amount of lawn and its a fairly small garden (only 60ft long in total). I have drawn rough plans and know where the borders will be(shape and size) but there will be some making up as go along as well.I intend including some climbers (probably Clematis) and a few herbaceous perennials to add colour.I know from experience how difficult it can be to source some plants that you'd ideally want, so, will have to be a bit flexible.
A long way to go before I start planting though!!

Your shed area looks nice paul.. its nice to start a new garden... and plan what you want to do with it...you have a big lawn are you going to dig some of it up for planting.... did that in my last house and had more plants than lawn lol

12 May, 2015

Thanks Holly, (hope your eye is on the mend) Yes.......I am going to dig borders and a veg patch but Julie doesn't want to lose too much lawn.If it was down to me , I would have very large borders like I had at my previous house.

Like the shed and I like your new garden too, a blank canvas, plenty of scope there Paul....

I hope you are planning a lavender bed though - your old one was lovely.

Thanks Dd....not really space for a Lavender circle Stera....although I did love the old one! Brought in so many bees and smelt gorgeous when walking past garden in high summer!

Thanks paul ... my eye is better... hope you enjoy making and planning your new garden.....
