The New Arrival

Last evening, quite late on, the delivery man came knocking on my door, it had arrived at last:-

So I thought I would take you up and through my garden to see my latest acquisition:- Definitely no money left now.

Can you see it?

Through the gates and there it is:

It looks really nice, so pleased I chose this one and it was reduced :o)

All it needs now is a big long cushion and then I can sit up there and ponder what my next move is in the garden: lol.

Very nice. Is that going to be its final position ?

Yes it is Cinders, think I might have to put down some slabs though to level it off, one leg slightly off balance on the grass. Or I might just dig out the grass and pebble the area underneath the seat, think that might look nice, not sure really any thoughts?

15 Jul, 2011

I think I would have to go with slabs personally, I don't like walking on pebbles or gravel very much, and gravel would get onto the grass when you want to mow wouldnt it. Perhaps you could get some round ones or curved to make it more interesting

15 Jul, 2011

Slabs can be sunk in the grass on a bit of sand to get them lebvel and the mower goes over them with no edging to do.

good ideas there Cinderella will put thinking cap on. thank you. I know what you mean about pebbles, they do get onto the grass, the birds pick them out and throw them about.

I never put sand under mine, we are very heavy clay Drc and they never go anywhere once they are laid, the only ones that have sand under are the ones where my eating/seating area is. All my paths are straight onto the soil. I knew I should lay on sand but the soil bakes that hard that I thought I would risk without lumping sand all over the garden, it works ok for this garden. Don't think I would dare do it if they were expensive slabs though. But mine are only ones that have been thrown out by the Council or such like - not bought any only the ones under the eating area. It is one job I hate though, such hard work digging out and placing heavy slabs in the ground, think the old bones are getting a bit past it now. This might be the last ones I lay. lol.

Thanks Joanella, glad you like it.

15 Jul, 2011

Love the seat, very classy - you'll need those nice cushions else you'll get horizontal lines across your bum!! lol.

15 Jul, 2011

That is lovely Olive, very classy....bum lines or not :o))

15 Jul, 2011

Alovely seat,Oliveoil, and it matches sowell with your arches..really nice..hope you have lots of lovely weather to enjoy it..and dream .:o)

15 Jul, 2011

I agree with Bloomer ... it really does fit in so well with the arches ... make sure you do spend some time just sitting on the new seat ... even though it's difficult for gardeners to sit still! : o ))

15 Jul, 2011

Been sat up there this evening, lovely. Thank you Bloomer.

I know what you mean Shirley, it is a gardeners nightmare, sitting still that is. lol.

Glad you all like my new seat.

15 Jul, 2011

It's lovely. I bet if you turn it upside down for a minute, the feet will screw out, so you can level it without sand, flags or anything else. Jx

15 Jul, 2011

Hubby had a look to see if they did, he said not. Glad you like it Jane, it finishes this bit of garden off nicely.

15 Jul, 2011

I really like that a lot, it would really go nicely with my metal arch....where did you find it mum? I can just picture it with a pot of lavender either side...hmmm...the scent!

15 Jul, 2011

What a shame. Yes it looks fab and just wait till all the climbers and ramblers have grown up. Phew.....!

15 Jul, 2011

Jane, It is good it is only a little off level will sort it out soon, got some other work to do first though, new climbing frame for some more roses to get put up eventually, when I can get O H to have some time in the garden to help. lol.

16 Jul, 2011

Big Lol ! Have a look at DAs Bellevedere its a beautiful rambler. Jx

16 Jul, 2011

Very classy - it's a really good match for the arches! yes, I'd go with slabs, too. Are you growing roses (or Clems) over the arches?

16 Jul, 2011

Thank you Spritz, yes clems. and roses are on the back one just roses on the front one. Have another metal arch which is going to the back of the seat in the Autumn I need to move it - it is in the wrong place, but there is a clem. at the minute about to flower growing up it so will have to wait until it has finished flowering before I move it. Think I am leaning towards slabs now thanks for your input.

Hi Jane will look at Bellevedere for the new frame when it is in thanks for that :o)

16 Jul, 2011

Oh WOW Barbara...it looks like its part of the setting already, you did choose well...and the Arch with gates, how posh lol...

16 Jul, 2011

Yes Crissue, it's so posh I had to have one as well! No slabs or gravel, it will be plonked on the grass I think.....

16 Jul, 2011

Don't rush, you'll know exactly how to site it - it will probably come into your mind when you're asleep lol, as it does...
Do you know I've got a flat bum, sat sitting here for so long...I'm going to have an Apple Turnover and a Tea..
so I'll say have a terrific evening...speak soon...well done, once again...

16 Jul, 2011

Oooh, you've just reminded me Crissue....I've a Summer Fruit Pudding in the fridge that I made earlier! Yum Yum!

16 Jul, 2011

Crissue, glad you like my choice, it goes well with the arch,
the arch was a christmas pressie last year. Liked it because it had a gate, I could have had it with a seat but preferred the gate, was going to go for a green seat but saw this one and thought that was just the right one. It does go so well, I am spoiled rotten really. Enjoy your Apple Turnover and Tea. Night Night speak soon - Barbara.

16 Jul, 2011

That's lovely and of course it won't be your final purchase who are you trying to kid!

16 Jul, 2011

Lovely bench Olive. Did you see DaisyDees blog last week? Bench featured with gorgeous red cushions ;)

16 Jul, 2011

No Dawn I didn't will have a look for it later thank you!

Lol Nana d you are right of course, just off to look up some roses and see what I can put on my wish list. lol.

17 Jul, 2011

Wow ! What a fantastic bench and it looks great with the matching archway. You are sooooo lucky. Hubby thinks a simple wooden one from Wilko's is sufficient. It gets painted every year,"you only sit on it ,for heaven's sake, its not for show" Typical man. i think the furniture makes the garden , Olive and i'm so jealous!

17 Jul, 2011

Rose it's the colour you paint it, that makes the difference...+ nice cushions etc... :))

17 Jul, 2011

I like wood very much Rose, I have wooden seats, just wanted something which would match up with the arch already in place. I agree it does make a difference what colour you paint Crissue, of course lovely cushions too. I found a long cushion for my metal bench in Morrisons reduced, so got a bargain, black and cream stripes so it goes well with the bench. Only trouble is with cushions they can be in and out like yo-yo's the weather is so unsettled at times. I forgot once to take them in and sat on them and got a very wet btm. lol: nothing worse!!!!

18 Jul, 2011

There is something worse,Oliveoil..It could have been mine ! Lol.

18 Jul, 2011

LOL Bloomer, yes it could be a lot worse when you think about it. lol. :o) or should it be :o(

18 Jul, 2011

The only problem we have using cushions is that as soon as our 2 cats see them they are on them like a shot, leaving muddy paw marks and lots of hair.

18 Jul, 2011

Yep same problem here Rose with the Cats...and it's true Barbara, the Cushions are in and out like yo yo's...and I'm saying nowt about Bloomer's btm...lol...

19 Jul, 2011

:o)

19 Jul, 2011
