One Month into Summer - taken 21st July 2010

I cannot believe how time flies, just been for a walk and taken some pictures and it is amazing how things have changed in a month.

Hydrangea given to me by a kind person, who didn’t want it in their pot any more, it is now in the garden and looks to be doing fine.

Bought this Buddleia last year was hoping it had the correct label on and it did!

Also purchased at Silica Lodge this bush, had one many years ago, it grew into a huge bush then died off (or so I thought) I found a shoot of it growing this summer and it has flowered. This one is the smaller bush (hopefully)!

Have had this Clematis for about 4 years now, it is lovely (I know it is white and I don’t do white, well some times I do – in fact think I like white -senile or what – seem to have a lot of it in the garden at moment) it climbs through the fence and over and around plants and is very pretty but I cannot find it on Taylors Clematis site and would like to know its name if anyone can give it a name for me please.

That’s about it from me for now, tummy says it is time to eat, think I will go out in garden for my sandwich and make the most of today, tomorrow is forecast heavy rain, (they keep telling us and we keep missing it but think somehow they may have got it correct for tomorrow.)

Hope you are managing to keep out of the wet up north and west, hopefully better weather is just around the corner for you. Happy Gardening guys, hope you enjoy the latest pictures.

Beautiful! It is my idea of a perfect garden too. Your plants are lovely and look so healthy. One of my daughters has the yellow shrub and calls it "Rose of Sharon" not sure this is the correct name but the person who gave her the plant told her this was it's name.I I am sending you a PM as I think you probably live in same town/area as me.

lovely garden.

Goodness, another neighbour!! Now, rose of sharon is a good name for this yellow thing that the bees adore...otherwise known as Hypericum or St John's Wort. ' The Clematis is lovely too and I don't know what it is...so now you've set me a challenge...i'm off to investigate! I only have one white one and it is 'Gazelle'. this doesn't quite look like it......will be back soon!

Nope that doesn't look right, and the leaves look different also, split don't know the term for that. taken picture of leaf so will post it on site

How about Viticella Hagelby white?

21 Jul, 2010

again the leaf doesn't look like that one, don't think that was the name either, think I will recognise it if I see its name.

Yes, I know that feeling well! OK, will go and look. Can you give me the height, flowering period and the colour of the anthers please?

21 Jul, 2010

Will do, height is never ending, flowering from end June to end August/September and the anthers are green

Thank you all for your lovely comments and especially Karen for naming White Magic, sorry you guys are getting lots of the wet stuff, we are not getting any at all, I am constantly hosing down the garden, it helps to keep the plants alive and that is about all you can say for watering with a hosepipe. Just seen the forecast for tomorrow and they have changed their minds yet again, we MIGHT get some rain now, but it isn't going to be that much looking at the weather charts, should be overnight and have stopped by about 8 am. Don't think I would swap my weather for your weather guys, sorry about the plants but it must soon alter for you all. After saying that we haven't had the rain, the River Trent the other night was very full, so it is coming down off them there hills and heading towards us even if it isn't coming out of the skies.

Certainly is bloomer certainly is! Think I like it more now because there is a lot of red/ orange and yellow at this time of year, it sets it off better, when it was still being developed it looked cold with a lot of white dotted around, it is filling in nicely now with different colours. It should be even better next year because I have filled in some empty spots in the big border with three different colours of Hellenium. They look to be doing well and I also put in some supposedly mixed colours Delphinium in another part that was a bit bare.

You are well ready for sunshine Sanbaz hope it lasts for you, we still didn't get rain to call anything, just a mizzling about that was all, some areas around us got quite a bit but think it has forgotten us, very strange 10 miles away where my oh works they had a couple of hours heavy showers, he didn't believe it when he rang and we were not getting any. Silly weather isn't it?

23 Jul, 2010
