Final day of my time off and we get this display for free!

RESULT. Is that a Niger seed feeder down there?’

‘Now I’ve heard about these but never actually used one…..’

‘Mmmmm……there are seeds in the tray but they stink of smelly bird feet!’

‘YO, HAR! Come and take a look at this feeder thingy…….it’s too complicated for me! HAR, hurry up!’

“Coming…….whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaar……”

‘Oh dear…….oh no…….oh dear……’

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH……..I can’t stop meself Fred!”

’He’s gonna hit the side, I just know he’s gonna hit the side…..! ’

‘Hey, good recovery Har! But how does this thingy work?’

(For the benefit of those who are a little behind and need an explanation, Har is the smaller of the 2 birds. In fact, he’s only……….Har finch!! BOOM BOOM!! Sorry, just had to be done!!)

“Dunno! How about if I stand on the edge and wobble it up and down……~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~OOOOH, I’m gonna be sick from all this shaking!”

“Maybe not then fred. Bit wobbly, that idea. Dunno then Fred. I’m stumped….Fred…..Fred….what you doing?”

‘Woooooh, all that shaking has made me unstable on this bar……I’m gonna fall down Har…..’

‘Oh geeeeees, I’m going right round……!’

‘Hey Har…look at me…..I’m gonna get me a seed……’

‘How cool is that Har? You got me a seed……WOO-HOO!’

" I dunno about that Fred…."

’I’m gonna try again…here goes…..!’

“I can’t watch……I’m all shook up….AHAHA!”

LADIES & GENTLEMEN, Elfinch Presley has left the building!

‘*Stay perfectly still Har and he won’t see you.’*

“Where are you Fred?”

‘See, it works!’

Thanks all!

Good luck with the seeds Richard and don't be dismayed if you see nothing for a while. My Niger feeder was up for months before we first saw Siskins and now the finches so give it time:0)

Nicest thing anyone's said to me.....this morning Floribunda!! Life's too short to be anything less than fruity as! If you're smiling, then that's good:0)

Thanks Pam and it does seem they are getting more in numbers. Striking birds without a doubt and lovley to watch, as are they all!

Thanks Dotty, Avis & Heron. Glad you found it so punny!!

Thanks DD but shame about the bird situation in your garden. What types of feeders/feed do you put out for them, if any?

24 Apr, 2010

Oh Oddbillie, I live a stones throw from the town centre so not exactly situated in the right environment for finches. I do have feeders with nuts and fat balls. The sparrows love them and I suppose, as there is a decline in the sparrow population, I'm doing my bit eh?....:o)

24 Apr, 2010

Absolutely stunning Dan, both photo`s and captions.......

24 Apr, 2010

You so ARE doing your bit DD. They say that the sparrow pop is on decline but we have loads here and a pair that have nested for 2 years in the guttering/under roof tiles, above the conservatory, A starling landed on the guttering early evening yesterday but the mother came out and screeched like mad and scared it off!

You can only do what you are doing and as you rightly say, you're doing your bit:0)

24 Apr, 2010

Thanks Oddbillie, I forgot to mention the blackbirds too. They wake me up every morning with a lovely song.....:o)

24 Apr, 2010

One of my favourites DD! Love their song as they shoot low across my garden each evening as I water my plants.

Them and Robins are magical to listen to when they sing.

24 Apr, 2010
