Recycled container growing

I am trying to grow some salad/veg for the first time using recycled containers. The container in the centre is an old water tank with holes drilled in the bottom and has 2 courgette plants growing. The ones either side are 2 old council recycling boxes, I have harvested some lettuce, rocket and radishes already and have more ready to be picked. They are placed at the back of the garage out of sight of the garden so they are not an eyesore. I put some double sided sticky tape around them to deter slugs and snails, so far only one has managed to get across!

Yes, I shall certainly be using the smaller ones for lettuce and rocket as they did very well last year. The larger, old water tank, had in 2 courgette plants. One of them grew better than the other, so perhaps I should only have tried one plant. I think I might try growing rhubarb in it this year in a shadier spot at the side of the house where we keep our bins. I like the idea of recycling, may try and paint them to make them more attractive. I think the sticky tape did help, needed replacing when it lost it's stickyness.

maybe you can take some photos when you've completed the painting and grown the plants. Well done.
