red heads

i love red heads .
know hair just red heads lol .
i made wooden seats to sit near my pond about 10 years ago . they did realy well but they have rotted out now.ive been wondering what to do there instead .i decided to go with the easter island look in red . i put a little divet in the tops of the seat parts and for cement there surprisingly comfy i think . i did different hights as i didnt want them to cemetricle and people arnt the same hight . i was more pleased with them than i thaught i would be . they just need to wear in a bit . as per usual i used rubbish and chicken wire etc to make them .

i also drew a makak excuse my spelling for skillen .

i also gave my springer jerry a hair cut as he was looking scruffy and layed in something which gave him big lumps in his hair . this was not easy with a half blunt pare of scissers but im sure he feals better . it makes him look younger than his 12 year age i think to lol .and last but not least i have a new form of transport thow it wont be so easy to get plants home from the garden centre thow it will be a lot quicker lol . i hope you enjoy take care and happy gardening everyone .

You've made some very original seating for your garden....at the beginning of your blog/photos I was wondering how it was all going to come together. But all became clear....and they look wonderful. The artwork is darn good too!

Can't beat a red head, they are very good. Imagine how much they would cost at the garden centre.

The seats look good Leigh, as does Jerry and that bike lol. love the picture of Jerry (4th from the bottom) with his ears flapping in the wind although i say so myself ha ha.

Brilliant blog again Np. Love the new seats, love the frowning expressions. Jerry looks wonderful. Had to have my Scamp put to sleep about 4 weeks ago, and Jerrys' pics reminded me of him. They looked so alike, especially the one of him laying down, under your drawing of him. The drawing of him is fab too. Don't know whether I've missed something on here, but how did you get on with the art competition? Haven't seen any comments. Unless like I said, I've missed it. :o))

Hi Np. Sorry you didn't get 1st in the art comp, but as you say, if the tutor won 1st it's a bit strange. Yes we do have another dog. A Welsh Springer called Mali. I did do a blog on her when we first had her. Scamp had so many health issues, that when we had the chance of a Puppy from a neighbour who was breeding them, we thought it would be a good idea, as we didn't know how much longer we'd be able to keep Scamp. He would have been 8 next month. We do have a boxer as well, called Gracie. She's about 12 now, and looking her age at the moment. Like you I've never been without dogs. I had four myself at one time. I keep saying 'no more' but they still keep coming Lol. Anyway, I think you should really have had a 1st for your art, and I hope something will turn up for you, and you'll be famous one day. Take care. x :o)

Your transformation of "rubbish" and cement into "Easter" seaters (ahem) left me speechless for a while and believe me that is a rare event.

Anyway, I think they are wonderful and I think Jerry looks wonderful, if a little confused by his own identity as a dog transformed fromn a long hair into a short hair.

As for you and the motorbike, you belong together!

Keep surprising us all.
x

Scamp had a bad heart. He was diagnosed last christmas. he was responding to his medication, but then we had trouble trying to control the fluid buildups. The vet had already told us, he could live another couple of years, or he could have a heart attack by the time we got him home, but we took the chance anyway. The problem recently had been that the fluid had been building up in him again, so he was having trouble breathing because of the fluid in his chest. Then he turned on the youngest Granddaughter. Luckily, he didn't actually hurt her, but you can't be too careful where children are concerned, following morning, he growled at me when I spoke to him. So we took him to the vet, and after a lot of talk and tears, we decided it was kinder to have him put to sleep, as the Vet said he wouldn't get any better, he would just gradually get worse. We couldn't let him suffer any longer. x

it seams quite a common problem in dogs i think thow its a shame bless him . he was striking out just in apserlute pain . dogs dont show pain as easily as we do . cats seam to suffer from failier of there kydneys etc . for what its worth you did the right thing lindalooloo .take care bye for now xx .

I love the seats Leigh , but then I love any of your work :o)) Be very careful when you come over on your new bike , I wouldn't want to be patching your knees up ( I don't know though , that might be quite nice LOL.. ) I've only got one thing to say to you " Please don't bring your scissors , I don't need a haircut " :o)) xx

1 Oct, 2010

Great stuff Leigh, your seats are certainly original. I have always been interested in furniture for the garden. I used to run a business alongside my horticultural business making rustic furniture, pergolas, seats, arches etc. I haven't done any for a while as it was very time consuming. Enjoyed looking at yours.

I love your red heads noseypotter makes me want to try and make a sculpture myself my dad does a similar kind of thing except he has a garden railway! What do you put inside them before you put the chicken wire around? You have inspired me i would love to have a go at making something like that. I think you should be on gardeners world or chelsea flower show with what you have made! you have an amazing talent and you should be proud of what you can do we can't all be good at art. I'm rubbish with drawing and painting but i'm good at making things. Maybe when i get some time i will make a sculpture for my garden. Not easy when you got 2 little ones! You are so lucky to be good at all art!

20 Oct, 2010
