Hello Np, after that tour around your garden, I feel like Alice in Wonderland.
It is 'Other Worldly'. A lot of time has been spent doing what you love to do and subsequently are very good at. Its just amazing, and I thought the little girl looking up expressed the wonder there.

Blimey. Wish I lived nearer to Thetford NP.
What is that structure made of that has circles in it & a green plant hanging over? Love it! ( Pic 9, 11 & 12 from bottom).

Your masterpieces are amazing Leigh, how do you do them? I love the huge hand and the dark grey wizard, just amazing.
I hope your Open Day goes well.

I'll take a look at your pictures Leigh. My daughter is a Graphic Design student and she finds your work amazing. Computer skills are one thing but practical work is something else.

26 May, 2010

wow id like to see your daughters work . art is art however you do it. ive always been good with my hands its just a gift realy.thhanx again dawn xx .

Perhaps this is a silly question, but what would be your favourite sculpture if you were only allowed to keep one for some reason? Maybe that is a horrid thing to ask as I know that your creations must be like living things to you.
I too wish I lived close enough to see your garden evolving:maybe one day. I have little or no artistic talent, but I can bake a mean sponge cake!
Warm wishes to you and your garden tribe.

my faverite byestly is normaly the one ive just finished but out of everything ive ever done its got to be the elephant or my centibeast i think . in my garden if i dont include the bust ive just done has got to be rosey the hippy chick with the sun glasses i think. like you say they all have a place and a time but i think having faverites is normal . other people call it a choice . as you asked me that felinfan what is your faverite sculpture of mine if you were aloud to have one ? linconshire isnt that far is it ? xx

I am so glad to have seen this blog. I am in awe of your cement wall and all the sculptures. I am 57 and would wish I could go back to 16 and learn and do what you know. Never too late though, huh? I laughed when you said you were out working in the wee hours of the morning. I have done the same because it just sometimes consumes me - and I love it.

never to late bliss never just ask if you want a verbal hand i dont mind at all . ive never been trained with cement or anything apart from a few evening classes honest. im 49 with spondyloses and have to use a walking stick . i get people like my 78 year old mum to carry my cement and sand etc honestly. if you want to do something enough thats all you need.if it consumes you your on the right track.take care and if you want to know anything just ask .

i started trying cement sculpture in the last 4 years bliss i swear . i did do pottery before that admitadly . i just always made huge things so concrete was the obvious choice . it takes a bit of getting used to and has perameters excuse my terrible spelling like every mediam has weather it be pencil ,clay bla bla so on and so forth lol . dont get me wrong i was born with a pencil in my hand and if i think i can do something then i will try for sure . i remember i wanted a ceiling artexed . i watched someone and thaught sod paying £200 for a cieling when artex was about £8 a bag . i used a whole bag on half a cielinng . enough to do a whole house lol . i did get the hang of it though . i watched someone plaster over old artex funnily and ironicly enough but i had learnt its all in the mixing from the artexing . this is the same for anything including cement and even cake mix . i learnt to plaster a wall bye watching once then just doing it and ofcourse asking lots of questions hence calling myself nosey to .ive started glass painting now and needed a piece of glass a certain size.i got 2 big old pains of glass and kept going till i had mannaged to cut one piece properly . it was about 6" x6" but then i could cut glass.its the wanting to and the passion and being realy tight that fuels me lol.the other reasen im called nosey is i found when entering art competitions a lot of snobby people wouldnt even look at your art first they would look at your signiture so i started writing nosey as my signiture.my web site has the word nosey in it as it goes anyway i hope ive cleared that up lol take care and dont give up . ifs and if onllies cant help you think in the now and be giuded bye your past.

I retired from teaching 3 years ago now. I have always wanted to have time to grow my artsy side. And now I get to. I love creating. And am trying pottery, mosaic, gardening, painting, drawing. I get frustrated because what I see inside my head does not come out very well because my skill level is so limited. I do love to just jump in and try stuff though. My only regret is that I just don't know what I'm doing. It does put me off to where I just stop doing anything, but it helps me to read your encouragement. I really wish to be able to draw and paint well but things come out looking like a 6 year old has done them. I will keep practicing and experimenting. Right now I am absolutely loving building the rock raised beds in our new yard. My husband will begin building arbors and fences during his August vacation. I am so excited to see it all in place. Makes me so glad to be alive..... Thanks for all your input and inspiration.

the thing is a picture of a flower a 6 year old mite draw isnt that special but do it in clay and it looks brilliant . lets face it my wall you covette so is just a load of bad circles joined together and look how many people like that . if ya get stuck just ask me ok . take care bye for now xx .

am loving Ur work ,i 2 like art but never followed it took up hairdressing instead ,but i do a lot of weddings so u have to b creative . love doing my garden and doing up old furniture ,making stuff , doing my house, which my mates say is a bit wacky lol. not into beige. and that ,like character in any thing. wish i cud c ur garden in person tho.

17 Jun, 2010

if your ever this way your welcome to a look at it but you are a way of cristina . you know what a lot of artists do for a living dont you ? hairdressing as thats art . if my sister whos a hairdresser lol wrote down her interests she would write down just the writing you did . i hate being like everyone else and a fashion victim i am not . if theres one place i can do something i like however wacky its my garden . i wish i was better of as i would get some land and have a cement sculpted house as they are amazing . to insulate them you use them polystirene balls you use in plant pots realy . you can have cement doors any shape . not sure my back could do what my mind would love to do but my wallet definatly wont lol. why would you want a house thats just like another million peoples . i hate being pidgeon holed .my flooring downstairs is comprised of whole tiles as a path running from the back door all the way through into the living room.round the edge is all different tiles broken up as a kind of crazy paving . everyone likes it and it was easier to put down lol . take care bye for now xx .

For a variety of reasons, not all happy ones, I have been a bit inactive recently except for the last few photos, and as a result I missed your kind reply to me regarding your favourite piece, for which I thank you.
You asked about my favourite and it has to be the wizard at the moment, but I have to say that every time you add something it makes one change one's mind again just like you did.

You are right that Lincoln is not so far away as all that, but present circumstances make travelling outside my own area more difficult than it should be. Maybe next Spring if you are planning another open day.

Meanwhile I shall take pleasure in looking at your photos and admiring your talent.

PS.I hope you had lots of visitors for your open garden day.
