The shrubs in my garden are coming into bloom to take over from the Rhododendrons and Azaleas first the Sambucus Nigra

the bloom in close up

Kalmia Latifolia or Calico Bush I think the flowers look like Iced Gem biscuits!

Physocarpus with it’s peach coloured flowers

Looking down the drive……..

towards the Johnsons Blue Geranium and Alchemilla Mollis

Springing up all over the garden the lovely Astrantia or Hattie’s Pincushion

Just a few of the plants flowering in my garden at the beginning of July.

Thank you Bjs I've been here for eighteen years so all growing well to wild!! :o)

Thank you Pam, Pink Cordial, Pink Champagne too I'm reliably informed! Iced Gems a favourite biscuit always bit off the icing too! Hatties Pincushion a much nicer name than paper flower - Astrantia's other name, Blooming for sure :o)

Thank you Bloomer, the Sambucus and Physocarpus are favourites for their dark leaf colour, love the contrast they bring to the garden - their flowers are so pretty too, as you know everything here have to do their own thing so they are hardy perennials, self seeding plants or shrubs :o) x

Thank you for liking Bathgate, TT and Drc :o)

Lovely idea then, I did make my own cordial once, its a bit tedious but nice in the end!

There may be a recipe for the Champagne on here - put on by David a few years ago! I like the look of the flowers too much to pick them though!! :o)

Lovely shrubs and plants, Neellan, especially that beautiful Sambucus. I've just purchased a very small Black Lace - rushed out last night to give it a bucket of water as it seemed to be suffering. Fingers crossed it grows big and strong like your Nigra.

Excellent. I agree with Gee, the Sambucus Nigra is stunning.
I love them but have never grown because around here they seem to get terrible problems with black fly but yours doesn't look to be suffering.
And, I agree the flower buds on Calico bush do look like Iced gems.Crikey, Iced Gems, I haven't seen those in years.I used to have them after swimming at our local pool as a child. (Or a waggon Wheel)

I never liked iced gems but Wagon Wheels, yummy and they were huge :)

Ha ha...yes, they are more like the size of a jammy dodger now Gee!

You've pruned the Sambucus into a very attractive shape. It beautiful. Have you tried making elderflower tea? I'm planning to do it tomorrow - one flower makes plenty for two large mugfuls.

Thank you Steragram glad you approve of my pruning!not tried that but think I can spare one flower to give it a try! i'll let you know :o)
