Plas Newydd Anglesey

I visited Plas Newydd Country House and Gardens on Anglesey today the sun shone, which was a nice bonus! the house has a fabulous picture taking up the whole of one wall by Rex Whistler there are also many examples of his paintings and letters. There are displays of uniforms and paintings depicting the battle of Waterloo where the then Marquess heroically lost his leg, his articulated wooden leg is also on display!!
The house is in a beautiful setting with vast gardens and Marine walk overlooking the Menai Strait towards Snowdonia.
A pond with fountain, Iris and Water Lilies in the terraced garden.
Urns planted with succulents topped the walls of the terraced Italian style garden.
A brief glimpse of the grounds of the ancestral home of the Marquess of Anglesey now run by the National Trust -a lovely place to visit.
