Happy day at the GC!

We took our neighbour into a large town yesterday for a hospital appointment – which happily means we have to come past the only decent GC in the region! Make that ‘call in to’ rather than ‘come past!’ Our neighbour, a Spanish Senora, doesn’t very often leave the village, claiming she hates shopping but, like all Spaniards of a certain age, when faced with an appointment to see someone as highly important as a doctor, it requires best clothes, make-up, and a change of ear-rings. She was absolutely agog when she walked into the GC – you’d have thought she’d walked in on the Big Man himself, and she couldn’t help treating herself to a lovely Begonia Rex.

But, this was my haul:

Along with pots and compost – four pelargoniums (called geraniums in this part of the world), a Lemon Thyme to replace my dead one, two Surfinias and a pot of chives – as I always have problems trying to make the seeds of them germinate so I thought I’d cheat!

The colour of this ivy-leaved pelargonium just drew me in like a tractor beam:

While I was in the garden today potting up and planting my haul, I thought I’d take a few photos of lovely things that were happening in the sunshine:

Peach blossom; Aubretia, Hebe and Variegated Irises; Rosemary – absolutely humming with bees.

Then I looked at the climbing rose – Crimson Glory. If it blooms as well as it’s throwing out shoots it’ll be a wonderful sight!

Hope all your gardens are doing as well. Thanks for joining me. :o)

Lovely to enjoy the bright sunshine with you Nariz. That's a pretty modest haul from the GC - you'll just "have" to go again . . .

OH HECK!!!!!! Do you know Nariz, you have just described me, I cannot abide shopping and even though I do live in a town I haven`t been down there since xmas, it delights me so much when hubby says he`ll do the grocery shop for me, as to a visit to the doc then yes I`d get all togged up, put a pair or earrings in, swap working watch for posh one and put my going out rings on. LOL...

Wish I'd known you wanted chives - I could have put some in with your dahlias. By the way, I've been given some antirhinum seeds, so no need to send them now. Lovely blossom.

Thanks for your comments, guys. :o)
Steragram - too late! Already posted! But you said it was Sweet Williams you wanted - not antirrhinums (which I don't have anyway) - some crossed wires around!
Lincslass - perhaps you should move to Spain? You'd fit right in. ;o)
Our neighbour has another appointment next week - so guess where we'll be going?????? Hee Hee!

Nariz, have sent you a pm.

I find I live in the most appalling clothes most of the time - really old, torn, baggy, paint and creosote-stained (but clean) trousers and t-shirts, so when I go into town (or even just to the local shop) I tend to dress up a bit, but here it's quite usual to see the ladies in full makeup, wearing pounds of jewellery, sequins, gold lame, killer heels, fur coats and Gucci handbags, even on something as countrified as the Monday morning village market. Men aren't too bothered about appearance until you see city dwellers, and then, even in the depths of the darkest shop, aviator, designer shades are "de rigueur". How can they see anything?

lovely photos nariz, glad you got to stop at GC, enjoy your new products :o))

That's Italians all over, Gattina, in our experience! There's no 'dressing-up' for the regular Monday market here - quite the reverse! Shades? They're for tourists who are not used to sunshine!
Sanbaz - enjoying as we speak!
