What an incredable evening!

After a typical Monday of working on mobile electronics in cars, I was gad to get home and unwind.. I just love to sit out on the back porch and look for any new changes in my backyard landscaping. There is always something going on and something new to see after a hard day at work. I suppose that “constant change” that plants will do feeds my addiction to raising and tending to them.

One big surprise that I noticed was that the Mammoth Sunflowers had turned the giant flowers almost 180 degrees today and pointed them at the house! Probably trying to catch afternoon direct sunlight. Here’s what they looked like:

I’m about 6’3" and had to reach up pretty high to hold the top one, so that will give you an idea of how huge these things are getting after only 2 1/2 months. Quite an amazing plant!

While the wife an I were sitting on the porch and enjoying all of the plants, birds, and critters, two sparrows landed on one of our bird-baths and appeared to be a male and female couple “getting to know each other”, might have been a “first bird date”. {chuckle} Anyway, I dragged out my high-powered camera and got a great photo of the “courting couple”.. Pretty cool!

It looked like the larger male was preening the neck feathers of the smaller female and they just had a great time on the bird bath. Pretty cool to see that moment and capture it!

Between all of the plants and the critters out here, it’s never a dull moment.. {chuckle}
Gotta love it! :-)

Nice blog n2organics - that's a terrific sunflower. I totally agree - I feel exactly the same way about getting home from work at the end of long day. Like you we're lucky to be able to see lots of wildlife and be able to enjoy a garden that keeps on growing and changing. Nice shot of the two lovebirds by the way!
