What a cool visitor to one of my bird feeding stations today:

A Blue-Jay decided to take a drink and sing louder than all of the other birds. It was way too cool!

One morning I saw a cat running at full speed down the road with a couple of angry bluejays hot on his heels....I supposed that's one nest that cat won't bother again.

The bluejays will do that Lauram, They are a lot like a Carnal couple (which mate for life) and will be very aggressive when defending their brood.

I have also seen our local Mocking Bird chase other birds away from "his" trees and feeders in the mornings.

Funny critters to watch!

and I've seen small groups of little birds mob hawks - it's always amazing to me that the hawks are intimidated and flee!

Yes, Lauram I have seen that in the farm field behind my place. We have several hawks that roost in the wooded area next to my house and they hunt the field in search of a meal in the mornings. We have two cooper's hawks and a huge red-tailed hawk that I see very frequently, working the field and the smaller birds that "dive bomb" the hawks always fly BEHIND the hawks and swoop from above. They will never get in front of the hawk's flight path because that is where "dinner is served". {chuckle}
Fascinating creature interactions!
