A Sad Farewell.....

I didnt know if i was going to be able to write this blog….I made several awkward attempts…Today was the funeral of my sister-in-law, Anne, she was 70 years of age and had been married to my eldest brother Tony for 48 years… Anne was diagnosed with lung cancer 5 weeks ago…..They have 7 sons and 1 daughter and Anne has 2 brothers…..After the internment at our local church, the family made their way back to Anne and Tony’s home for refreshments..about an hour later one of the boys came running in, he was in a bit of a state and told us Seamus, Annes older brother had collapsed outside on the driveway….We ran outside to him and someone phoned for an ambulance…but Seamus was dead…such a shock to all of us, Eugene is Anne and Seamus’s younger brother and he is completely devastated at the loss of his sister and brother almost on the same day….I just wanted to share this day with all the kind people i have come to know on this site and please forgive me for off-loading my sorrow on you all…..thank you for listening xxxx

What can you say in times like this? We can attempt to type words of encouragement, condolences, or what-ever, but every typed word seems so insignificant compared to the vibrant years of a life that was lived, be it a human, pet, or plant... Life is the most precious gift that God has ever provided and with each passing of a life of any kind, God instills in all living creatures a renewed passion for life and survival.

Hang in there, Motinot, the guy "upstairs" will comfort you... Just be open to him when the time is right and any pain will simply fade away..

Thank you for your kind words Hilda....The family are doing well...Tracy the youngest child and only girl was married on January 9th past we all had a nice day....but the sadness at Anne's absence was clear...Tony (my brother) has spent some time in Australia with his eldest son, he is at home now and is feeling very lonely, so he is heading back to Australia in 2 weeks time where he can indulge in his favourite pastime...jazz...he loves playing piano and is very talented...thanks again Hilda for your kind comment x...

I just found your blogs as I'm home sick the past 2 weeks so needless to say I have plenty of time for GOY.
I was shocked to read your blog of such devastating losses. How shocking! I've only heard of such a thing happening once before. It's hard enough to lose one member of the family but two at the same time is beyond anything I have experienced. My heart goes out to you and yours. I know loss too well so I know the pain of it and I know that only time eases the pain. So I hope by now the pain has eased and you have found a way to deal with it. I believe you'll meet again one day to enjoy each other's company again. Until then I wish you fond memories and peace. Perhaps you might plant a flower or tree in their names, you might find it helps, but silly me perhaps you already have.

I like others here don't mind in the lease if you share your sadness with us here. Life is full of up and downs, laughter and tears. Anyone one can brave the good times but what good are friends ( even internet friends ) if they can only weather the good times.
For better or for worse, in sickness and in health through laughter or the tears.
All the best to you and yours.

P.S
I'm from Co. Wicklow but live in LA. I miss Ireland though.
