Today I finally made scones from Pixi’s recipe (as I am on a special diet at the moment …lol). I added my little touch and next time I may add a zest of lemon with the buttermilk. Also I think I will give them 1 minute less in the oven.
They were delicious.

They look really great, that is my favourite raspberry jam, will have a go at making some scones. I stopped baking a while back, just kept eating the lot, the more i baked the more i ate.

Thank you all very much for your nice comments, sorry not to have replied before, but been away for a couple of days.
No Stickitoffee, not all Frenchmen are chefs, some are terrible cooks, I have been very lucky to have a mother like mine. Every time she was cooking she taught me the way she, her mother and her mother etc., cooked often using very old recipies.
We did eat the whole lot, but unfortunately didn't have enough clotted cream left for the last two. My special diet is to put plenty of strawberry jam, with a hhhuge lashing of clotted cream on the scone (my nose is usually covered in clotted cream).
Yes this is all Pixi's fault. You see what you have done to me. Maybe we should start a diet school (how to put on a few stone in a week) I am sure it will be very successful.
I am going to make some more in the next day or so (have got to buy some more clotted cream though).

Actually Avis, I wouldn't mind making my own jam as I am now in my cooking mood, but is a shortage of time. I am going on holiday in a week for three weeks, then returning to France for Christmas and the New Year, so sadly it will have to wait until next year. I used to make my own blackberry jam when I was in France years ago and used to enjoy the smell so much ..... and the taste.

Oh Yum! Not had Blackberry jam in years!
Years ago when I lived in residential caravan ( it was lovely btw) I had a wee plot of land around it which I did all by myself. Loads of huge rocks had to be moved etc etc..made a pretty wee garden and at the back grew potatoes and strawberries ( and other things which died lol) Anyway the strawberries were the biggest I;d ever seen! Actually got a bit fed up eating them day after day lol. So I made lots of jam..it was superb! Nothing like home-made jam Mossy. I actually prefer raspberry the best! mmmmmm on scones mmm :))))))))))

Homemade blackberry jam - takes me back to childhood of searching hedgerows with my parents and brothers for the blackberries, by the bucket. When we got home we had to wash, debug, degreen them and mum had a huge pot (her jam pot) the freshly made jam was poured into rows of steriled jars - what a shame the skill is lost, I wouldn't have a clue what to do, sad really.

Jam isnt hard to make! :))))
