weedin…. weeding…weeding… I will be doing this in my sleep. Some people make gardening look so easy. But by heck the weeds are a bloomin pain….I will not be defeated.
today in between showers i have weeded like theres no tomorrow… but there is a tomorrow and there will be more weeds (and creeping buttercup!!) I can see why some people give gardening a go then give up. But not me…

after spending so much money and time ( and defiantely lots more of both in the future) I will not be defeated by these little weeds, that sting, poke, scratch, stink and spread. I would rather do another 19 and a half hour labour than do more weeding… but like child birth (so they say) you forget the pain and do it again.

I have not really got any plans to have another child, nor have I forgotten the excutiating pain I went through, but the weeds…grr they are gonna get it.

Just when you think you have cleared an area the size of a football pitch but really is the size of just the football, you sit back and breath a “phew” blink… for goodness sake never blink, they grow in the split milli second it took. there they are “hehehahaha” look at me Ive got HUGE roots that are EVERYWHERE"

So after a long old day of dodging rain clouds, planting seeds and screaming bloody murder at those darling weeds. Im ready to relax and plan my master plan of action for tomorrow when I have the day to myself and those weeds are gonna get it…. hear them scream

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAH ….(evil laugh)

big hugs to you all and keep an ear out

yes weeds are sent to test our resolve. i find it quite theraputic. you could put a mulch down after you have weeded to slow down the growth of the new ones.

couldnt even dodge the showers today :o(

Good on you Mookins. Don't let them win! You are not alone I feel the same too. When I thought one area is cleared and weed free, go on to another area to weed, by the time I look back at the previous bit I did, the weed are back. lol.

Oh, boy. Yes. Those weeds. Mind you, the wind and rain aren't doing us any favours at the mo either, are they?
The wind is lopping flower heads off and as if that isn't bad enough, I turned my 'sweet ass' round and lopped the top off one of my lilies. Grrrrrrrrrrrrr...

I've been on a diet for 3 months too, but the back end is still too big, ha, ha.

LOL Llew.
My weeds are getting away from me I have to admit. I think it's a conspirasy (sp) to take over the garden. Trouble is....I sowed so many seeds that are just coming up, I don't know which is a weed and which is a lovely flower waiting to bring joy to my heart!! :o/
Great blog Mookins.

As usual I'm sitting here chuckling away at your blog and the comments that have been left. I do agree about the weeds the little B@@GERS seem to emigrate from all the gardens around and move in to mine but after all they are just flowers that we don't like (you knew someone had to say that !!!) LOL
Lovely blog Mookins H&K's to you.......Ian

P.S. Toto, do you know where I could get some napalm ?
It would be very helpful.....Cheers all

i can smuggly announce that there are no weeds in my borders as i do not have any bare soil showing. that of course means there is also no space to put all the annuals I have been growing, but I will worry about that later. Now the lawn is another matter, daisies, dandelions and a pretty little creeping thing with purple flowers. But having kids and guinea pigs I gave up on the lawn years ago!

oh see the yanks they are experts in using napalm, they used plenty in Vietnam

18 May, 2009

I always feel eeply satisfied after a good weeding session

19 May, 2009

So do I - WHEN and IF it ever stops raining! :-(

19 May, 2009

You guys are all funny. Love the smell of napalm in the morning! Ah.....

19 May, 2009

that was a long time ago now Tonyb, I doubt they use it now... especially not for there gardens. It really does sound like the name of a plant. what a waste if its just a gas bomb thing

It was HORRIBLE - so please let's not even mention it! I remember the pictures so well. They were shocking.

20 May, 2009

We only started working in next door's garden in September and it was full of "sticky weed", which inevitably came through to our garden on our shoes.

Yesterday, from one of my hanging baskets, I removed a sticky weed plant that had three strands to it and one of them was 12 inches long! Mile a minute?!

21 May, 2009

eek that sounds horrible, Im still tackling the dreaded creeping buttercup, hubby dug out a huge patch yesterday, and ive just dug another today grrr

Is there something going round at school?

21 May, 2009

shes not at school yet bless her heart shes only 2 and half, so grown up for her age. She sometimes goes to her nannys on a monday and this week she was also with her cousins who are at school, she came home in the evening very tearful, red cheeks. That night and since she s been really poorly shes more upset over having to be back in nappies during the day she hates them.

21 May, 2009

Aaaahhhh. Poor little mite! She must have picked up a 'bug'. Of course she hates nappies - she's aware of them, now.

21 May, 2009

Oh, poor little lamb. I hope she gets better soon. I hated when my kids came down with anything. You always feel so helpless. It doesn't change as they get older either.

22 May, 2009

ah bless her i hope she's on the mend mookins we never stop worrying do we - as for the weeds if only we could get some gas and air to make it bearable :)

22 May, 2009

I can now safely say that chickweed is the bane of my life. Mookins, I feel for you and your creeping buttercup but I think I can match you in the war with my chickweed. I have spent hours today trying to get ahead of it but it seems like I've hardly made a dent. I swear I can see it growing up in the patches that I've just weeded. :o(

23 May, 2009

oh gilli, bless,Ive heard of that stuff, not good.

Ive also got a large army of ants living under various plants in the ground now dotted all round the garden... and beginning to lose my mind

aaaaarrrrrgggggghhhhhhhhhh

thanks everybody, Cody (my daughter) is now much better, smiling laughing and telling me off

Even growing plants on a balcony doesn't free even me from weeds! My worst pest, after grass, is chickweed, it gets everywhere. It's a real job getting it out of my hanging baskets! Grass growing in every pot & container is perhaps the worst! You should try & weed it out from among Crocus leaves while they are still green - in spite of Crocuses having a silver line the length of the leaves - the grass seedling manage to hide them selves until the flower stalk appears. Then it is often murder getting them out without pulling up the poor Crocuses at the same time. Somehow Chickweed also manages to remain invisible till it begins to flower. If it breaks off before you can trace it back to its roots it regrows even more & is even more difficult to extricate from among the plants, then, like the grass, they come up with what seems like a ton of soil around their roots & practically empty the pot of soil & plant!

23 May, 2009

Ah, weeds, where would we be without them, lol!

Glad Cody is better!
