I live in southern British Columbia, and planted 2 golden hops last year to grow up a trelis each, to hopefully grow over the top of a pergola my husband built to cover our deck. We have the sun all day to about 6:30 at night in the summer time and it is very hot, 100 degrees last week. Last year they didn't do too much, but this year have really taken off. I have lost a lot of the bottom leaves on the one plant and I wonder if it is due to me watering and the leaves still being wet when the sun gets on them, although I'm confused as to why the other one is okay...What should I do with the hops ? if anything...I was born in Nottingham, and my dad was an avid gardener, but at that time in my life I was too busy and wasn't really interested, but I wish now that I had followed him around more and paid closer attention. As I'm new to gardening, I wish her were still here to give me advice with my flowers and other projects...
