They do very well in pots, do make sure they are not in full sun and do not dry out at the roots.

Hi, I live in the north of Scotland and grow various Meconopsis. They definitely do better in acidic or acid to neutral soil, and where they get a good cold winter.

In 'Who Does Your Garden Grow' Alex Pankhurst reports that Madame Hardy has been described as 'the most beautiful white rose in existence' In 1885, in France, there were over six thousand varieties of rose available, Madame Hardy was recommended as one of the best 26 varieties.

I am not into bonsai, but they do make a fascinating display. It is always lovely to see how other people like their plants

Hi, thank you all for your comments. I am hosta mad, they are definitely good value plants and such diversity among them ;)
If you go after Hosta June choose one in full leaf, and go for the one with the darkest leaf colouring

Hi, Praying Hands is a lovely hosta isn't it. When hostas are small and grown in pots I find it best to overwinter them in a cold frame, unheated greenhouse or shed. I've never lost hostas in the ground due to winter weather and am sorry to hear that you lost yours. They are not known for needing winter protection, which varieties did you lose?
