I have great tits....

…and blue tits and before the summer I had swarms of starlings at my bird feeder but I am now mainly feeding the best of the best a family of 6 goldfinches – they are wonderful!!! It feels like an age since I was last able to come here and catch up so hello everyone, I hope you are all well! I have been so busy changing the garden, the hard landscaping is almost complete in the front garden and I am now thinking about planting – I AM SO EXCITED, and then SOME.But I am not posting pictures until it is done. We experienced a bit of set back and this was due to private pathway next to our house which has never been used so we offered to take it on and we are still waiting on an answer as teh landowners have gone away for 2 months so we are having to plan everything around the path leaving a wonderful south facing wall just mocking me with its bricks and mortar and promise of a lush red hot border. So, the other half declared at the start of this venture “The back garden is mine, do what you want with the front”, he has promptly concreted a patio in the back and after many attempts by me to get him interested in the front and being given the overly firm brush off, he comes home last friday to see my wonderful plan take form then suddenly gets hit by an invisible gardeing muse as he got involved and has taken my original plan and tripled it (and the cost). It was nice seeing him get involved but there was this part of me screaming on the inside “THIS WAS MY PROJECT – DO ONE, YOU LOSER”. I refrained from this, partly to be the bigger person but mostly because “his” new plan was very similar to my original plan he poo-pood because he has no vision. Or soul. Or sense come to think of it. So I have spent most of the last month on the phone and online talking to and ordering sleepers, ballast, aggregate, plants, and a small point to make, decent manure is really hard to get delivered. So I have a ton of questions (some I have posted already on GOY) but if anyone has any suggestions for good plants to have near a small pond (chalky soil, coastal garden, some wind) and some plants for prairie theme I would really appreciate it. Hope to hear from you soon, take care Miss C.

I'll leave the planting suggestions to the more knowledgeable GOY members but am looking forward to seeing your pics of the new garden. Don't forget to let us see some before and during ones as well if you have them.
It seems to be common with men that they pooh-pooh our suggestions and then come up with the same thing some time later as their own ideas! It's hard to hold your tongue sometimes but they do come in useful and it's nice to do things together! :o)
