Oh Milky..the poor little blighter...working so hard to get it just right ! Do hope this is the selected nest !!!

21 Mar, 2010

Its sooooo exciting. That roosting pouch has got to be the best £1 you've ever spent. Lovely photos, especially the last mid flight one. The wren is one of my favourite birds.
Kathy: Sounds like the wren thinks the greenhouse is his not yours.

21 Mar, 2010

Lol, think you're right Dawn certainly wasn't scared of me, tiny as he was.

21 Mar, 2010

I didnt realise they were that cocky Kathy, thought they were shy. I wonder if he was looking to nest in the greenhouse.

21 Mar, 2010

They are pretty fearless little birds ! With a dynamic song !

21 Mar, 2010

You can certainly hear them when they're around.

21 Mar, 2010

Have you seen them open those tiny beaks and sing Dawn? Exquisite !

Great blog, Milky, he must think a lot of her (whoever she is!) to be making so much effort. I do hope she chooses this nest so we can see all the coming and goings. You realise you won't be allowed out in case you miss anything? :)

Hi Milky
I heard on the radio that it was a bad winter for wrens. Many didn't make it because of the snow and ice preventing them finding food. You're so lucky!!

21 Mar, 2010

Thanks Milky for keeping us informed of progress. Its so wonderful to be able to see whats going on, thanks to your great photography. Do you have a very good Zoom function or do you manage to creep very close? They're wonderful photo's. Your marvellous 99p buy is helping to save the future wren population after their disastrous winter.

maureen ive just been reading up on wrens, they actually make quite a few dummy nests to detere other birds nesting close by, they dont like competion with food for their young so they also take other birds eggs and pierce them and also odd times throw young birds from nests, very terratorial birds, says you can tell a dummy nest as it just has a few lose sticks and things to make other birds think its taken, also you should see eggs about 3 weeks after nest if finished, hope this helps :o))

23 Mar, 2010

Sandra...Thanks for that information. The wren has been taking in so much moss that the opening is now very very small, but I havent seen any twigs or stuff like it go in. I will sday that today there has been no sign of the wren at all, and I am hoping that this is not a dummy. Maybe its albut finished and just awaiting "Madam's" arrival.....I hope so will be watching again tomorrow...with everything crossed.

23 Mar, 2010

all sounds good maureen so hope they take residents now :o))
