Freegle/Freecycle

I was recently introduced to Freegle and have managed to pick up a few things. As I’m about to move to an old cottage which is also a lot larger I was on the look out for older furniture. But the amount of stuff for the garden is pretty amazing!

I’ve “scored” for the garden so far;
A proper wood conference table and one of those small blowaway greenhouse things (that you can get in B&Q etc) for the greenhouse.
200 plastic pots of various sizes.
A box of 15 to 20cm terracotta pots.
Four folding garden chairs.

Today I picked up 600 litres of vermiculite, and this Wheatgrass propagator……………

Basically it is just a stacking (and very expensive) version of the cheap unheated propagators that can be bought everywhere. Nicely made though.

If you’re not there already, go check it out!

I have some good stuff off it so far. And it has saved me a few runs to the tip too!

Freecyclers are usually most generous people ... our daughter has recently moved from a flat to a property with a garden ... most of the items now in it have been gained via Freecycle! ... Patio furniture, BBQ, pots etc. .....

They certainly are!

Kildermorie - it's always hit and miss, but as I'm online most of the day it's easier for me to be quick.

I can afford to now too Surreylad!

I have never been lucky enough to bag a bargain from freecycle but boy have I got 'rid' of most of my junk to anyone who wanted it, its brilliant. Will check this out though.

Dd, if you dont mind 'strangers' popping around to your house then go for it, they come and collect anything!! Lol

I got a nice 1930's hallway table and nic-nak cabinet yesterday. Lovely condition, but they had broken the cabinets glass front. Ideal to fill out the new house, and the cabinet will make a nice project.

Grandmage - if I'm not in the mood for guests I just say that I'm clearing the attic so I'll leave them on the doorstep for you!!

Our local freecycle ask us not to that Meanie because we have had things 'taken' by others seeking to make a penny or two probably on e.bay! Lol. However i did leave some things in the porch once and that worked well! I always take these folk around the back way as well, never through the house.

I do wonder if some are just doing that anyway Grandmage..............
